Shocker.....
I see more people on motorcycles doing stupid, aggressive things on the road. Then they get into an accident with a car, and 10000 more bumper stickers come out telling me to look twice for motorcycles.
I have a response for those bumper sticker makers. I don't bother to look twice because most of them are going so fast that they're gone by the time I look the second time.
Not lumping all riders into this group, as I know many responsible riders, but the ones who are riding around like lunatics are nothing more than rolling organ donors.

It's usually the ones on them Rice Rockets doing that stuff. All the riders I know (on Harleys or Goldwings) ride like that have some good road sense.
Why was the Mazda at a complete stop in a traffic lane on an interstate? Granted, the rider wasn't paying attention and should have seen that, but still.

Can't really race on a Harley. Piece of crap won't go faster than 75, 80 tops.

LOL... try driving I-95 through Jax most days of the week during rush hours without coming to a full stop.
If the biker was really doing 140, the car probably wasn't even stopped. He just made it look that way.
There are always going to be idiots out there, and the first two indicators of that are they're riding a crotch rocket, and wearing a ago Pro camera on their helmet. These are a special breed of idiots who want the world to see their escapades on YouTube.
I've seen these idiots pulling wheelies on the interstate doing 100 mph. I've seen them splitting lanes and weaving through traffic at high rates of speed. They somehow think they're invincible. They don't know or care what kind of problems they leave in their wake. They give the rest of us a bad name, and make it more dangerous for anyone on two wheels. I've had people show complete disregard for motorcycles on the road because of guys like this.
I've logged over 100k on motorcycles over the years, and I've had more than my fair share of close calls because of people not paying attention to what's going on around them. I've learned through experience and training to anticipate this, and to position myself in the best possible way to avoid incidents. Still, as safe as some folks ride, all it takes is one idiot in a car to cause problems.
I've had cars ride right up on the rear of my bike in traffic when I've got nowhere to go. They don't stop to think that tailgating a motorcycle might be dangerous. They just figure tailgating will force the bike to get out of the way. They're in a cage, so it's no big deal to them. Meanwhile, they're wreaking havoc on the aerodynamics of the bike by riding right up on them. I've seen people almost eat it when that happens. Same thing when cars just cut in front of bikes, or linger along side a bike on the interstate.
Yes, idiots like the guys in the video are annoying. Yes, they are dangerous. But, the overwhelming majority of bikers are just trying to get from point A to B.

Well, from the video, it certainly wasn't rush hour or a stopped traffic situation, as the traffic in the other lanes, and ahead of the Mazda was clear. It's doubtful to me that the biker was going 140 mph, as well. Furthermore, from the video, after the impact, as the guy flies by the Mazda, you can see that the wheels on it are not moving. The story also mentions the Mazda being stationary.
It's not normal for a car to be stopped in a traffic lane for no reason and with no brake lights on. If you aren't paying close attention your brain just accepts it to be another moving vehicle.

It is if you live down here in west palm.....

One confused tourist is all it takes to create a bad day for someone. Ride a motorcycle on I4 any time of day and you're bound to see a rental car or one with out of state tags doing something dumb. If they don't, locals will oblige as well.

So why ride? I would love to own a motorcycle but you pretty much summed up the reason why I never will, especially in Florida. Heck I don't even use my bicycle on the street anymore because of numerous close calls.
Not trying to defend idiot drivers in cars but just have to question why even risk it.

LOL. Top speed on the V-Rod is 115. 130mph with a couple of basic mods.

It's what we call using an hyperbole for comedic effect.

Oh. OK. I just thought you were stoopid.

Yeah, too, was trying to figure out what the hell the Mazd was doing there stopped with no brake lights on, and wide open space in front of him, on an INTERSTATE highway....
Not normal at all.

No kidding, you took the words right out of my mouth. Practically word for word. They're my feelings exactly. Those bumper stickers really, really irk me. Per capita, many more reckless motorcyclists than car drivers.

Because riding a motorcycle is cheaper than therapy, and a lot more fun. You deal with the idiots.

I'm going to have to disagree. The numbers simply don't back that up per capita.

Lol ignorance on display have you ever been on a Harley?
