This has to be a no brainer right? Josh Scobee.

Wow, our drafting has been really bad in the late rounds if these are the best we have done (over the last few days....)

Probably why we have two big stretches (2000-2003 and 2008-2014) of not having a winning record in the last 15 years. Don't you think?

I think this is the hardest pick yet. Scobee or Sensabaugh. Its not quite apples to apples since the best kickers in a draft usually go in the later rounds while the best safeties obviously can go first. So by definition Scobee should be better at his position than Sensabaugh since kicker is less valued.
Anyways, after we let Sensabaugh go he ended up starting for the Cowboys for 4 or 5 years. He'd still be starting in the league had he decided not to retire. He ended up being a pretty solid player. Was dumb on our part to let him go.
I ended up going with Scobee just because I think he is a better kicker than Sensabaugh was a safety... and because of all the bigtime money kicks he has made for us. But I was tempted to pick Sensabaugh just because its harder to find a solid starter at a skill position later in the draft than it is to find a kicker.

I think Nwaneri has to be in that mix. He was the Jags starting RG for several years. I don't think Sensabaugh was any better a safety than Nwaneri was a guard. Scobee was/is a better PK, but you can easily get good PKs without drafting them.

I dont think its that easy. Were you here in 2002-03?

Just because the Jags failed to get a decent PK doesn't mean that it's all that hard to do. How many PK in the NFL were originally drafted by the teams they now play for?
I counted 11, which means about 2/3 of the teams found a PK without drafting one.

Thats a fair point. Although admittedly I've never been a big Nwaneri fan. I felt like he would pancake a guy one play and completely whiff the next. And that he was part of the reason our Oline has stunk for years.
You could probably consider Jason Craft as well. started for us for a couple years and then went on to be a solid nickel corner for the Saints.

Thats tough. I'd have to lean towards Scobee just because he's still here and he has developed into a great kicker.

I'll go with Scobee.
Good kicker, been here for a long time, and many game winners.

Scobee for his duration. However, I think DRob can rise to the top of this list if he can learn to catch and hold onto the rock.

Nwaneri was nothing special, but an acceptable starter. I thought he was a better guard than Sensabaugh was a safety, although it's close.
I'm not familiar with Craft's play as a Saint, but he was terrible as a Jag. I'd put Kiwaukee Thomas ahead of him as a CB, and neither was as good as (say) Middleton.

Is Scobee a better Kicker than Sensabaugh was a Safety?
Think I'll go with Josh just on game winners alone.

NINETEEN YEARS worth of 5th, 6th, and 7th round picks. That is 57 picks, and what did we get? One kicker.

Scobee. The Colt killer.
Heck, ask Colt fans who our best 5th round pick is. They'll tell you.

Hate to go with the kicker, but yeah, Scobee.

Yep Coughlin found Hollis as an undrafted FA.
Our current K was acquired via 5th rounder and we used a 3rd rounder on a P.

I thought this was a tough one. You could go in different directions. I know it is easy to say Scobee, but kickers often go undrafted. It's much harder to find a good positional player in the fifth round than a good kicker. Sensabaugh had a decent career, although much of it was after the Jaguars. Someone mentioned Nwaneri, but why not Wade? John Wade started 110 NFL games (compared to 92 for Nwaneri). Wade also started all 16 games during our 14-2 season. Nwaneri contributed to offenses that mostly struggled. I voted for Wade.

Grew up near him in VA. Our parents were close. I was a little older or I would have played against him in HS.
He's one we should have retained. But that was during Coughlin's cap hell.
