I think Mayock's change of heart had a real impact on other analysts as they were putting their mocks together. 

 

It's impossible that a bad pro day would have this much of an impact on a player where you're seeing mocks where he's fallen into the 2nd round. 

 

I was a little surprised that he only watched 4 games considering this was the guy being touted as the top QB prospect in the draft.  It was interesting to see how his focus changed once he attended the pro day, then went and watched more game film. 

 

For a team like the Jaguars who have to get the pick right if they go QB, I'm not sure if he'd be the guy I'd go after based on the same concerns I've had previously.  Toss in Mayock's point that Bridgewater is a nice kid, but he doesn't have that "it" factor that you'd expect from the face of the franchise, it makes me think the Jags would go in a different direction.

 

Now, if they see him on the board at 39?  It's a no brainer.  Then it becomes a situation where Mayock's red shirt suggestion would be a realistic expectation here.

I pretty much think that unless the Jaguars trade into the middle of the first round, QB will not be this team's first pick.

I have the same feeling and I think it's a mistake. Too much of an emphasis is placed on measurables.


On the "it" factor in FBTs post. "Bridgewater came off the bench to throw two second-half touchdown passes, and John Wallace kicked a 29-yard field goal with 1:41 left to give Louisville a 20-17 victory on Thursday night in what was essentially the Big East championship game." He had a messed up ankle and a broken wrist.

I think ultimately he winds up being a good QB in the league. I also think if the Jaguars can move down in the first round and draft him, this would be a good landing point for him because he wouldn't be expected to step in immediately.

 

I look at Manziel, and I see a huge gamble there.  He'd be fun to watch, but only until he takes enough hits from guys who aren't impressed with his improvisational skills.  Then it'll be cringe worthy football. 

I would just like to point out that several months ago, TMD was devastated by the potential scenario where HOU takes Bridgewater with the #1 pick and haunts us for the next decade, and today several scouts question if TB will ever even become a starter in the NFL.

I don't really care what TMD has to say on the subject, but I think anyone saying TB will never become a starter in the NFL is wrong.  Bridgewater will have an opportunity to start in this league.

Of course he will have the opportunity. Don't think anybody is disputing that. It's just amazing what takes place in the span of a few months.

He already said that now he doesn't want us to pick him at 3 if we can get him later in the draft.

Yup.  He was the undisputed top pick in the draft not that long ago.  Now he'll be lucky to be taken in the first round if you believe the bobble headed mock drafts.

I do have to say, TB always passed my "eye test" when watching him while guys like Carr and Bortles did not. He is also supposedly a "student of the game" type like a Manning, so it will be interesting to see how he develops, especially with a chip on his shoulder 10x bigger than MJD ever had.
