Again, a poor comparison conceived by a misguided agenda.
Not a single shred of this is true at all.
Gabbert never "wow"ed the team like Bortles has. More like Eugene Monroe, who we didn't even visit with, he fell and we struck.
The Gabbert - Bortles comparisons are hysterical.
Oh I forgot who I'm talking to.....a lot of YOU-CEE-EFF fans on de bored....

The Bortles bias is strong.

I forgot too. A biased poster who dislikes any player/coach whenever they are linked to the jags.
Yea the Gabbert - Bortles comparison is terrible.
As someone said above this sounds like it could easily be a smokescreen. We all know the Jags wants to move back. There are a few teams, like the Bucs, who it sounds like really want Bortles. Voila, working trade down opportunities.

My take in the Matthews thread shreds the above.
Quote:Well, thats your opinion, then. I don't see how Bortles on field college play is all that much better than Gabbert's sophomore season.
I highly doubt you watched Gabbert his sophomore year.

How is having a similar build, IQ, and chalk-talk to Gabbert a negative?
He didn't have the same production as Gabbert. He was better in every way statistically in an offense in which the numbers more closely resemble what they would be at the pro level. Gabbert's production should have been similar to Chase Daniel's in that offense.
Gabbert's sophomore year:
262
445
58.9
3593
8.1
8.2
24
9
140.5
Chase Daniel his senior season:
385
528
72.9
4335
8.2
8.2
39
18
159.4
Gabbert clearly had completion issues even in a completion friendly offense.
The comparison to Gabbert is laughable. Blake isn't afraid to throw deep, use his wheels, or take a hit. My concern with Blake is his decisionmaking and staring down receivers. His arm doesn't impress me, but it's serviceable and will likely get stronger. I don't feel Blake elevates his team the way Teddy or Johnny do. I think he'll have some moments, but overall he's not worth taking in the first round

Blake's decision making and arm are fine. His problem, which might give you that perception, is that he fades away on a lot of his sideline passes. It takes a lot off the pass and they are close to getting picked off as a result. That's an area of his game that he must improve before taking the field as a pro. I think it is very correctable.

He reminds me of Drew Brees arm on Ben Roethlisberger's body.
Like Brees, it may take a little time and a few lumps to develop into an NFL QB.

When you can't argue against them, just call them homers to invalidate their opinions.

Yeah that's it. It's not that your argument is embarrassingly bad and completely baseless. It's because we are all UCF fans.
That's why you liken Bridgewater to that of Luck and Elway and Manning, right? Because yoo ar a looey-vil fan,
rite?
TMD seems to be comparing the two because in Gabbert's second year his INT/TD ratio was similar to Bortles. (This despite the fact that their completion percentages were different, they played in different systems, etc...)
Here is another QB's that it's similar to:
Aaron Rodgers (24 TD's, 8 INTs)
Hitting 30 TD's is nice. Derek Carr hit 50.
There is so many names linked to the Jaguars that I don't have a clue who they will pick anymore. The draft can't come any sooner.

You really have no clue what you're talking about
I like Bortles, i think the problem with Gabbert is that he was thrown to the wolves, i think with time Borltes could be Big Ben and well i know i would take Big Ben on this team ( as long as Blake stays out of trouble unlike Big Ben)

Gabbert was thrown to the wolves. But, even after being given an opportunity to rebound after an off season and reestablish himself, he failed. He was damaged goods in need of a change of scenery. He was never going to turn anything around here.
If Bortles pans out to be Roethlisberger 2.0, some team will be happy with the decision to draft him.

I agree, one other problem that Gabbert had was the Offense he was in at Missouri was not a great fit for the NFL, Gabbert had his chance and he blew it majorly had he been able to sit ala Aaron Rodgers maybe it would of worked out. I think Blake will be a much better QB than Gabbert
