Quote:All this talk about sandwiches is getting me hungry with the hankering for a South Philly style HOAGIE... might be away for awhile... :whistling:
If you're ever in the Philly Burbs, I recommend trying Pudgie's on 202 in Norristown. If you want a big boy cheesesteak, that's the place to go. I'll drive an hour to get there when I'm up visiting fam.

Warning: Do not..I repeat..do not get a large.

THanks for the heads up! I will make sure I do! ......but now you realize, I MUST try the large now that you said that, lol

Don't eat before you go then. I have a picture of a small that I'd post if I wasn't at work.
Blue boy sandwich shop. Hands down the best in Jax.

When you get home, post it!
Quote:Publix still rules the sandwich world.

And I find JM to be below average, to be honest.
I was still Larry's or Firehouse over Publix. But they aren

't bad
Quote:No chain beats some of the mom & pop sub shops.
He has spoken!
Quote:They are all over up here in VA and they are about as good of a sandwich as you can get at a chain restaurant.

I love how they fresh slice everything as they make your sandwich. And the taste kind of reminds me of a place on Blanding Boulevard years ago called Uncle Charlie's; loved that shop!
How long ago we talking for this Uncle Charlie's place? Been here a looong time and I don't recall it. Where on Blanding was it?
CPR is the name of that relish. I had to go and get a turkey wrap today and asked the lady what it was called. Cherry Pepper Relish. It is a perfect finish to their sandwiches/wraps.

Early to mid 80's. It was around the Blanding and Collins intersection, maybe three or four "doors" down from it.

Oh ok, that explains why I wouldn't know. That was a bit further down then we ever really went.
Firehouse Hero Double Meat and Beef Brisket. Mmmm, oh and the Hawaiian sub they had was awesome. I'll have to try jersey mike though.

I do like the lettuce wrap sub at Jimmy Johns. And yes, they are overrated but their fast.
I miss Wegman's subs.  Larry's is good, Publix is solid, Jimmie Johns, FIrehouse.  I will have to try Blue Boy.  I think MetroJacksonville.com just had a story about lesser known restaurants in town and that was highly rated.

Publix hands down.
Italian Beef from Larry's on Normandy.

Larry's is really good

Also like firehouse Italian sub. If you like Italian subs, the firehouse version is tough to beat

Jersey mikes chipotle cheesesteak is good. Some of the subs have too much bread vs meat IMO
Publix is great, firehouse is terrible.

theres a name I haven't seen in awhile, I used to love their tuna, then again I think I just liked their bread.

Do y'all have Deli Delicious out there?

They're the king here. We just started getting Jimmy Johns but I've never been in one.
