From the tape i've watched, to me Derek Carr and Mettenburger are the 2 best qb;'s in this draft. I just don't see the hype in Teddy, Manziel or Bortles.
1. Bridgewater
2. Manziel
3.Bortles
4.Carr
5.Mettenberger
6.McCarron
7.Murray
8.Garrapalo
9.Fales
10. Savage
I still wouldn't take Teddy with 1st round pick unless I traded down.
I'd go...
1. Bridgewater. Best passer. Great awareness
2. Manziel. Confident improviser
3. Bortles. Big guy. Winner
4. Carr. Another decent passer
5. McCarron. Knows how to win
6. Garoppolo. Quick best develoment prospect
7. Savage. Big guy. Strong arm
8. Mettenberger. Big guy. Slow mover
9. Murray. Average
10. Fales. The same
To be honest, I think that once you've gone past the top five you could pick just about anyone, because you are taking a chance whoever you go for. And I wouldn't want any of those in the first round, with the exception of the top two
Anyway. Looks like we all largely agree on this question
Tougher one might be to pick a top ten of receivers ?
Quote:Tougher one might be to pick a top ten of receivers ?
Very easy for me...well the top several tiers are at least.
Tier 1 - Sammy and Evans
Tier 2 - Beckham Jr and Cooks
Tier 3 - Adams, Robinson, and Latimer
Tier 4 - Moncrief, Matthews, and Lee
Tier 5 - Benjamin, Ellington, Norwood, and Bryant
QB Ranked By Position
1. A.J. McCarron - The QB pro prospect with the most amount of elite talent since Andrew Luck. Love to see him getting picked apart for winning two national championships and missing a chance for a third national championship birth on a missed FG returned for a TD in the SEC title game. How can you be the best quarterback in college football and not be the best quarterback in college football? People are strange to allow their personal motivations get in the way of recognizing how much elite quarterback talent A.J. McCarron already possesses.
He doesn't just read defenses prior to the completion of a single-option throw out of a shot gun offense, he reads individual defenders in pre-snap, and again follows ALL of his progressions on the fly with advanced comprehension based on what it means for his own receivers when defenders A,B,C and D are where they are on the field and their direction of travel. He gives the offensive coordinator a full play. His reads and progressions are on the elite level right now.
His competitiveness is understated. Elected to play for a big-time college football program with a long history of national champions and a solid reputation for high expectations of their players. McCarron thrived in a pro offense at the college level. His understanding of the pro game is well ahead of any other pro quarterback prospect coming out of college.
What's a fair comparison? If you watch this video and it doesn't bring A.J. McCarron to mind, you're being dishonest to yourself and your team.

2. Take your pick
Quote:Pretty sure there will be a couple on here that are going to cry, but I did my homework here.
1. Bortles
2. Bridgewater
This was very tough to judge, Bortles seems to really step it up in his tougher games (not that Teddy does not, but Bortles has more of them.) 10-20 is a good range for Bortles, 15-20 for Bridgewater
3. OK, heres where I get killed
Derek Carr, improve the footwork and I see a star!! Would love to see him with a little protection and a couple speed guys!
4. Manziel
Its not that I think he will be a bad player at the next level, he may end up being the best qb in the class! However he may also end up being the biggest bust as well. I need to see him without his all-world line, and recievers.
5. Mettenberger
Great arm, good accuracy, but like Carr needs pocket work.
6
McCarron
Being a lifetime Bama fan, Ive watched him week after week. Feel like he's underrated on the boards but he's got some work to do.
Good in the pocket, spot on with the 10-20 yard throws but a little too quick to dump off to his backs.
7.Murray
size a concern, as well as batted balls. Good not great arm, I believe he could make most of the throws he would need to make at the next level. Tough player, but sometimes in the pros its better to avoid the hit and not be a hero!
8.
Garappolo
Falls here for me due to his delivery, the little almost sidearm motion. In a shotgun system it worked, but what about in a pro system?
9.Dark horse time!!
Jeff Mathews
Good arm, good vision, but another one who struggles with pressure! However in the 5th/6th round, he could be a diamond in the rough type.
10. Boyd
Came down to him and Thomas for me in the 10 spot.
Reminds me of Ponder a little (not by player type), where he looks like a future star at times, then boom he looks like a first time qb.
Remember when this draft was considered one of the better QB drafts in recent years?
While I don't think the top of the class is necessarily a lock to become elite at the next level, there's a ton of depth in this draft where teams like the Jaguars will be presented with multiple options. None of the QBs are flawless, but a good number of them could develop into very good QBs in the NFL given the chance to do so.
Your list is a confirmation that there isn't a total stud in the draft that's going to walk in and be that franchise guy. It also shows how deep this draft could be. The Jaguars are going to wind up with 2 names from your list. If they aren't part of the top 3 (Bortles, Bridgewater, or Manziel), it won't be the end of the world.
Nice analysis.
