Quote:Unless it's a "can't miss" first round C, which it seems like there are fewer and fewer of lately... it's a complete crapshoot. Shaun O'Hara went from UDFA to HOF. So unless it's Martin, you're rolling the dice so I wouldn't even bother until the fourth round or so if we don't land him. There are better prospects at other positions in the second and third round, where some positions are stacked. We're likely to see two or three of the top five Cs still available in the fourth. It's all or nothing, feast or famine for Cs in the draft. They go high or they fall, with little in between.
That's our entire problem. Blow off talented football players in order to take a far less talented player at a more glamorous position.
We have no talent because we have a skills bandit GM that fiddles around trying to cherry-pick his way through the sea of talented guards, tackles, and centers to find what he thinks are impact players. Play-making impact players. Small, fast squirts that college kids can't catch.
Best player available regardless of position. That's the only way the Jaguars are ever going to reach competitive strength again.
Let's hope Caldwell learned his lesson about drafting guys like Gratz and Sanders over guys like Warford and Schwenke.
Otherwise, our worst nightmare of Biff Bortles and a bunch of jack-rabbits is going to come true.
