Anyone else catch the interview this AM? I listened on the way to work this morning and thought i'd share, since we're in the doldrums.
- Khalil Mack is the best defensive player in the draft. Better football player than Clowney. Clowney is a superior straight line athlete but needs to be tought to play the game. i.e. bend the corner
- He see's Sammy Watkins as best WR to come out since Green/Jones. Says he's heard others say he's the best prospect since Calvin Johnson
- Logan Thomas is the best pure passer in the draft. He's not the best prospect by a long shot, simply the most natural passer in the draft. Warned that so was J. Russell. Said he see's many of the same concerns with Thomas as when Newton was coming out. Not suggesting he should go high, just that a lot of people have slept on him since the beginning of last season and he's gotten progressively better.
Can't remember what else he said, but interesting interview. Says he likes Mack or Watkins to the Jags.
My only concern with Sammy is his height. Who does he compare to considering the best receivers in the league are 6'3+? Also he smoked weed :o

Would you consider Antonio Brown among the best receivers in the league?

i think sammy is a lot stronger than people think and he obviously plays really fast. Very good hands, knows how to get up. He is a fantastic prospect, but so is Mack. I think Mack would be a lot more valuable to the team than Watkins, which is why my money is on Mack to be the pick. I won't be mad either way.
Also said he doesn't see an early run on QBs. Thinks teams may start to follow SEA/SF model for success.

I agree with this. I like them both but i really think if we don't trade out, Mack will be a Jag.

I'm still 50/50. I honestly don't think they can go wrong with either. Part of me thinks Mack is such a perfect fit with Bradley. But Watkins is the type of weapon the team has not had since Jimmy Smith was in his prime.
It is a deep draft but Mack, Clowney and Watkins are considered the premier prospects and the team is guaranteed at least the opportunity to get one of them.

I'm assuming you were showing sarcasm re the weed, as I'd guess 80% of the players in the draft have smoked weed.
You're correct to be concerned about Watkins height. You can't teach tall.
I really respect Cosells opinion but calling Logan the best thrower in the draft is complete nonsense and its hard to take other things seriously after he said that.

He didn't say best pure passer, he said best thrower. Totally different things.

its really weird to call anyone the best at 1 thing in the draft. there are so many prospects and to say 1 is the best thrower when there are probably 5 or 6 guys that have a ridiculous propensity for just throwing the ball is really splitting hairs.

He wasn't trying to say he's the most accurate, best qb, best prospect, any of that. He made it very clear. He said he just has the best natural ease of throwing the football than the rest. For what it's worth.

Why is that hard to believe? Thomas is not only the biggest/strongest QB in this draft but also the most athletic. So is it any surprise he would be the best pure thrower in the draft? Being a great natural thrower of a football doesnt equate to being the best QB. And it sounds like that was Cosell's point

Because he said something positive about a guy that I don't like! And if I don't like a guy, then he is absolute, utter garbage as a football player! He has no good qualities at all! Do you hear me?!?! NONE! He is the sux!!!!11!!oneoneone!
Anything that is positive about
any player that I don't like is just a lie!
.
Whew, glad I got that out.

He's like a hybrid wide receiver/running back.....strong, elusive, good vision, good break away speed......very dangerous once he catches the ball. Teams will be game planning for him. Our offense is a joke.....no weapons......we don't have anyone who scares the other team. Watkins would be a huge boost to the offense. Can't use elite pass rushers to the fullest if we never get a good lead on a team. I think Watkins can help this team the most. 2nd choice is Mack.

Yeah, he went to great lengths to clarify that he wasn't calling Logan the best QB in the draft. He basically labeled him a talented project.

It comes out really easy, and at up to 60mph. A cannon with a hair trigger.
I continue to believe someone will fall in love and overdraft him at a surprising spot in the draft.

No.

I won't mind the Jags selecting Thomas as a 2nd QB taken after someone like Bridge/ Manziel/ Bortles/ Garroppolo

Thats the same philosophy that drafted the 76ers Shawn Bradley years ago. ....Supreme bust.
