I hate my friends !!! Seriously, does a friend really email you the picture below with the caption:

"With the 9th pick in the draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Reggie Williams, WR, University of Washington."

Yes, a friend does exactly that.

Reggie Williams. Sick

Ben got fat
Sadly, this could be said about a plethora of our first round picks in the past......

GO JAGS!!

I get the same. Many in fact. Matt Jones and Soward are favs.

If the comedians live in a city with no NFL team, I respond with a picture of WW holding up the old Jag helmet.
^Brilliant!
From NFL.coms list of best and worst draft picks for the Jags (obviously this is one of the worst) I bolded my favorite part:

Reggie Williams -- 2004 (No. 9)
Williams, an All-American receiver at the University of Washington, left school early, and his lack of maturity quickly showed in the NFL. Williams upset opponents and teammates alike with his on-field histrionics, including one time when he busted into a celebration dance after a run block. Williams never had more than 52 receptions in a season, although he caught a franchise-record 10 touchdown passes in 2007, but it was nothing more than a tease. He had just 37 receptions in 16 games the next season, and the Jaguars released him. He was arrested on drug charges in 2008 and tried to revive his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks in 2009, but it didn't stick.

Is the sky blue?
The thing that just kills me about Williams was that on paper he had everything you could want coming out of college. Size, decent enough speed, AP All American, the list goes on.

I mean, you couldn't draw up a better WR if you tried.

Really sad that the guy only lasted four years in the League.

Same with Matt Jones.
Yeah, friends do that kind of crap to each other.

Not really, no. Jones was a position switch as an athlete who wasn't even playing his favorite sport. While I think that Jones is the much better athlete than the two, Williams was - at least in my opinion - a much more polished prospect for the Draft.

That's what I was going to say.

I didn't see him in college, but from what I saw with the Jags, I couldn't figure out why we picked him. He was clumsy and had bad hands. Add to that the fact that he was a total wacko flake, and why in the world did we draft that guy?!?!?

I remember watching a game his final year in college. I don't remember the game, but in the pregame they did a little special on the three Williams that were the top receivers that year, Roy Williams, Mike Williams, and Reggie Williams. After doing a segment on each one with an interview and their highlights, they asked each receiver which of the three Williams was the best. Roy Williams said he thought it was Reggie. Mike Williams also said he thought it was Reggie. Reggie Williams said "me". That was my first real memory of Reggie Williams.

He wasn't nearly as bad of a prospect as people try to make him out to be in retrospect.

I had a friend of mine who swore one day he was in a Firehouse Subs for lunch when Matt Jones and Reggie Williams walked in all giggling and looking high as a couple of kites. This was before their drug problems were known and I thought he was just full of it at the time.

I think the biggest problem with both of these guys was their lack of maturity and their inability to take the job of being a professional athlete seriously. It's a shame because I think both had a lot of potential.

Disagree. He had a ton of natural ability. He was just a moron.

I would say they cut you a break, they could have done much worse. It is fun to banter with rival fans, but you are one weird person to admit you are friends with a Steeler fan. Is she the dominant figure in this friendship as well?

I could picture you in that type of relationship. Wink

Except he had very little sudden/ quickness and couldn't leap over a credit card.

He was also very clumsy. I remember in almost every instance where he tried to win a one on one battle by an attempted going up and getting the ball, he'd always wind up falling and looking as if he had no balance whatsoever.

Bingo, his straight line speed was ok, but he wasn't quick out of his breaks, bigger WR's that aren't quick out of their breaks usually have a hard time getting separation, and Reggie definitely struggled getting separation at the NFL level.
