Of course, there are a lot of others you guys listed that are just as deserving.  I think of influence in addition to success.  My list has a lot of people who influenced others.

But, I'm as a fellow Aerosmith fan, I gotta admit, I never cared for that one. I wouldn't be surprised if Tyler himself shared that opinion. He didn't even care for "Angel" all that much, (allegedly) Most of their stuff I obviously liked, but that one was just too soft of a song. It never fit them. Ballad's they did in the past like What it Takes, Angel, even Dream On is essentially a ballad....but they all had some substance to them.

Fun fact, ( I think) " Don't wanna miss a thing" is their ONLY #1 hit. Correct me if I'm wrong.


I've got to respectfully disagree with your thoughts on the ballads. Sure, if I'm listening to rock I wanna rock! But I have a soft spot for aerosmith's ballads. I love the slow softer stuff of theirs. Especially "blind man" "angel", "amazing" and I throw in "dueces are wild".

Just goes to show how Americans are such followers. Elvis is only listed because people think they should put him there. Not because he actually belongs. Elvis to this category is like listing KISS in the category of top 10 bands for musical accomplishment. Neither would belong. Both are essentially overrated. Doesn't mean I won't ever listen to a KISS song, but you'll never, ever hear me speak about them as if they were great (talented) or anything, because they weren't. They were a gimmick, a novelty.....just like Elvis.

You're delusional if you can see the influence Elvis had... The history of music would have been completely different without him.

A. KISS sucks

B.  Elvis, whether a product of record producers or not, played a huge role in introducing rhythm and blues to white people, which in turn lead to the popularization of rock and roll.  Whether you like his music or not, you cannot deny the force and influence that was Elvis. Elvis hit the market during the rise of consumerism and helped to create the first major generation gap in American history (along with Chuck Berry).  Like him or not, he is important.

I had to go and check because I thought Angel was a #1 hit, but it wasn't. 

 

The fact that DWMAT was a #1 hit and some of the other, better songs never made it, kinda tells you about how difficult the musical climate used to be, and where it was in 1998 when that lesser quality song actually made it to 1. 

 

Their last top 10 hit was Jaded in 2001.

A. redundant. I essentially said the same thing. 

 

B. Oh please. Elvis contributed nothing to that except for singing like a tuna and gyrating on stage. He wrote little of his stuff, and overall wasn't really all that talented at all. I wouldn't doubt if the piano he supposedly played on stage was an automatic, lol... Milli Vanilli before Milli Vanilli

Yes, it's very difficult to have a top ten hit back then. Jaded is a good song. But it isn't even on my top ten of best Aerosmith songs. Sure, I can listen it, but nothing like their classics. I've actually delete jaded off my phone because I was tired of hearing it when it came on. Give me any of their other hits any day over that.

My list was more or less a joke. It's part of an Eminem song. To answer your question though, Andre 3000 is definitely one of the best rappers of all time. If you like rap, go listen to some of Outkast's old stuff.

Chryssie Hynde/ Pretenders is an excellent addition to this thread (if they are American)...
