Quote:No. As a player he wasent really good. Special teamer at best. His football skills was on the level of a Nick Sorensen.
Tillman had 155 tackles in 2000. I wouldn't say he was a special teamer at best.

That isn't entirely true. He wasn't special, but he definitely produced a whole lot more than anything Sorensen every put out. He'd start on a handful of teams.

I don't think you ever saw him play. He was a very solid player at safety. Just not a HOF'er

Quote:He deserves to go in for being an American hero. This guy decided to stay over there when he had a good chance of returning to the NFL. Having someone like him in the HOF would be a great move by the NFL.
Put in as a player? Or put in the wing with a memorial plaque. Huge difference.

I don't think being an American hero actually is a qualification for the NFL Hall of Fame.

Maybe if there's an American Hero Hall of Fame, yes.  But, the NFL Hall of Fame is about football.  He's not HOF worthy based on his football career.

Stop. I am guessing you never saw him play.

Not saying he deserves to go in the HoF but much better than you are saying.
I saw the guy play. He wasent very good. Typical S who could tackle. His skill set IMO was very limited like Nick. Was he better then Nick? Yes.
Isn't Mike Thomas' jersey in the HOF for his hail mary catch? Tillman should be there under a special exhibit, but not as a player.

Special teamer at best?  You need to do some research.

Is it me, or are people here making things up more and more often?  I mean it seems to be the usual suspects, but still.

Lol you went from special teamer at best to a typical safety who could tackle.

He was a pretty darn good safety.  Would he be in the hall on stats alone, no...but he did something 99.9999% of NFL players would never do.

No I stand by my original post. The typical safety part was a response to people saying he was a pretty good safety. IMO he was just average. I agree with you 100% he did something 99.9999% of nfl players wouldn't do. Heck I wouldn't do it and I'm not in the nfl. Taking nothing away from that. I just thought he was a average football player.

I've never seen someone take such baby steps in their backtrack.

You were like 10 years old when he played.

I highly doubt you had the acumen to critique his play at the time or the ability to recollect a guy who was only a "special teamer" that played for a bad team that got little exposure.

Now he just wasn't very good. He went from a guy who saw the field 10 or so times as a special teamer to just a guy who wasn't very good at safety. Boy, you aren't helping your cause at all, only digging deeper.
Quote:Sure, if they make a special exhibit highlighting him, Bob Kelsu, Jack Lummus(Medal of Honor) and other pro players who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Yes, that, but not an official Hall of Famer.

Besides, making "the ultimate sacrifice" is just a twist of fate.  If they set up the exhibit you envision, they should do it for every pro football player who served in combat.   Not just the ones who got killed.

I stand by every post I made. I just looked up his stats to see if i missed something. He only played 4 meh seasons. The reason he only played 4 seasons I get. Trust I understand why most wanna see him go in. Im just saying as a player no.

Hey..I was very dialed in for my age thank you lol

You stand by every post? What about the one who said he was just an ok special teams player, which in fact, is completely wrong? You can't make a square peg fit a round whole no matter how hard you try.

And you can't base this solely on stats. Tillman was a very good safety. He was an All-Pro in 2000. He was better then just "meh".

I never said he should go into the HOF, he shouldn't is what I said in fact. But to first say he was just a special teams guy, and then change that after the fact to say he was just a "meh" football player is just completely off.
Nick Sorensen?!

Simply clueless.  Disqualifying and self-nullifying "argument."

That being said, the only way he deserves in is if they dedicate a particular room, wall, etc. specifically for special recognition of unique, non-career achievements.

Hall of Fame for what lol.
