Quote:What a stupid penalty by Cam, flipping the ball at an opponent and taking them right out of FG range. Just stupid, and I'm a Jags fan so I know stupid penalties.
Dude got hit in the head AGAIN, it's been happening all year. I'd be pissed too.

I've seen that called on some QBs and not on others. Cam is one of the others.
Shouldn't have thrown the ball though, but they weren't calling head to QB anyway

Remember the controversy about Cam Newton not getting calls because of his size and mobility? He thinks that. Ron Rivera thinks that. Talking heads on NFLN think that. There will always be people who disagree, of course.

Everyone has their breaking point. I guess for Cam it was his 11th no-called helmet to helmet hit of the season that made him throw the ball at someone.
Quote:I heard Sean McDonough say he had a better chance of getting a shampoo commercial then the Panthers do of making the playoffs. What does that mean?
Among other things, the Panthers need the Redskins to tie for the 2nd time this season in one of their remaining 2 games in order to make the playoffs.

It's been a tough season for the Panthers but this was an inspired performance. Cam Newton, Johnathan Stewart, Thomas Davis, and a host of other players on the team played with tremendous heart. Ron Rivera and his coaching staff deserve props as well.

So the tie in London was bad for Washington because the Redskins need a full win?

Yes, But in terms of the Panthers, they need the Redskins to have another tie as part of a long formula needed to reach the playoffs. The chances of it happening are probably a trillion to one but that didn't prevent the Panthers from being the antithesis of what the Jets were 2 Monday Night's ago.

Unlike Todd Bowles, Ron Rivera knows some things about keeping players focused and motivated from 15 to the last zero.

Ron Rivera is one of my favorite coaches in the NFL. I remember watching him in most of his games when he was a Bears LB, when he was the Bears 4th LB.......behind 3 of the best in the NFL. Rivera had good ability but his intangibles were even better. As a HC, his aggressive style, connection with his players, putting together a high quality coaching staff, and people skills all jump out favorably.
The end of that article is ironic: "Pretty simple path, really." Uh, not really, if you need two teams to win one week and lose the next.

If that was Brady or Rodgers or Eli there would have been 10 yellow flags on the field.

LOL Not all seven flags, but it would have been a penalty for sure. Dean Blandino likes to explain what the officials were thinking when they made rulings like this one. "He felt it was not forcible contact." Exactly how is it not forcible contact? I would throw a flag every time when a QB is starting to slide and gets hit.
