I think I would rather have Logan Thomas at that spot.   Tremendous potential, but a lot of development work to do.   Murray is a finished product, I don't see that much upside.   If we invest a 5th round pick in a QB, and it's the second QB we draft this year, I want a guy with a very high upside.

Are you willing to take Logan at 39 though...cause he's most likely gonna be gone by our 3rd round pick.

No, I would not take Logan Thomas before the late 4th round.   He would sit on the bench for probably two years, and I think we can still get guys in the 4th round who would get on the field and contribute.

Yeah I agree. I would love him as a dev QB pick on day 3...but I really think he'll be long gone by then.

Had a nightmare last night(no lie) that we drafted Garropolo with the third pick

I really hope we grab him. I don't see him lasting past the fourth. Jon Gruden loved him while he was at qb camp, calling him the steal of the draft.

Given the two of you, this speaks very well for Murray.

If we don't take one in the first, I'd be quite alright with waiting til the 4th or so for Murray. Don't think he'll ever be great, but I think he can be pretty good.

- We have 11 picks. Two 4ths and three 5ths. Right where Murray is projected to be drafted. Allows the Jags to fill other needs before he's off the board.

 

- Georgia boy. Caldwell came from Atlanta where he's been privy to Aaron's play.

 

- Competitive drive. Coming back from an ACL and being determined to make an NFL career is something Gus has gone on record saying he admires.

 

- Strong arm, ice in his veins, no fear of pressure, stands in the pocket strongly.

 

- Gus was the only HC at his pro day.

 

- He can scramble. Not to the extent of Manziel but effectively enough like Brees can cause a defense hassle.

 

- He will be able to sit and learn. We don't have to throw him into the fire. Caldwell says a lot of rookies had to start and this year will be different. Perfect for Murray coming off an injury.

 

- #11. It's a sign. We got rid of Gabbert to give Murray his college number. Haha.

Strong arm is laughable.  Slightly below average arm at best.

 

Ice in his veins?  He was terrible at crunch time against good teams.

I wouldn't put it past their egos to believe they can do it.  Because to them, it's not about the player.  It's about the coach's "ability."

A below average arm cant make a lot of these passes, Murray is also probably the best deep ball thrower in this draft, and the best at using the pump fake.

I disagree with this part. I believe that distinction belongs to Carr.

I think that Murray's ceiling is Andy Dalton. Personally, while I wouldn't want to blow a first or second round pick on that while better players are available, I'd be pretty happy with him in four so long as we draft a QB with a higher ceiling before him.

You are serious?  Posting a highlight video... and it doesn't even highlight arm strength?

 

He threw no opposite hash deep outs or any other relevant NFL throw.  It was all deep downfield.  And... Only 1 pass in that video traveled over 45-50 yards in the air.  

 

Supposedly Tim Tebow is the posterboy for weak arms, although I'd consider it average with poor accuracy.
