Lemme guess, you'd take Jameis Winston next year tho right? lol.

Most of the big names in college football party hard. I don't condone, but they do. It's different when your Manziel, I presume the most well-known non-pro athlete in the world, and everywhere you go someone wants a picture with you.

Listen, I heard similar arguments made about not drafting Newton when he came out, questioning his off the field integrity. I'm sure next year there will be many who say don't draft Winston because he's a sexual predator.

I'll be honest with you, I'll take Newton, Manziel, and Winston on my team any day, all day. And here's why. Because despite their off the field problems, despite whatever negative opinions and unsubstatiated rumors surround them because they are/were the most popular athletes in college football, it has never affected their on the field play. Until it does, you have no argument.

So go ahead and pass on Newton the thief, Manziel the drunk, and Winston the sexual predator, lol. And I'll take them realizing that most of those depictions are simply unjust demonizations of people who dislike them.
Quote:So you partied at your school and never had a drinking problem?  Is there an echo in here?  isn't that what I just said?
JF is holding a beer in his hand and he has a drinking problem? I don't know, do you?  If you have inside info I'm sure Dave and Gus would like to know.

Did you never have a beer in your hand at these parties? No. ( You understand how a double negative works, right?)  There's nothing automatically wrong with drinking.  It's the decisions you make when drinking, including the decision to drink to excess, that may create a problem.

Oh ok, that settles it.
People are really reaching here.

I've not seen any reports indicating Manziel has a drinking problem. To imply otherwise smacks of another agenda.

It is agenda. Sometimes people just don't like players. Sometimes they are too good or sometimes they aren't their prototype player. I just call it the Kobe complex and leave it to that.

Listen, I heard similar arguments made about not drafting Newton when he came out, questioning his off the field integrity. I think concerns about Newton were more related to his work ethic and team mentality.
I'm sure next year there will be many who say don't draft Winston because he's a sexual predator. Who knows?  I don't have sufficient facts to have an informed opinion.

LOL.  Tell that to the Patriots.  Granted, an extreme example, but character issues are something of increasing consideration, probably more so in this draft than any other in history.

Since when has Johnny had a drinking problem? Suddenly if you have some vodka and a beer your an alcoholic...

Personally, I could give a rats [BLEEP] if he has a drink every now and then. As long as he's responsible with it, who cares..

You guys and your witch hunts are pretty pathetic..
Uh oh, and he spilt his beer.  At least Johnny dont spill it

Yeah.. Beer.. Riiight..
You should see Tom Brady's party pictures. Dudes a lady killer
These slippery slopes are killing me. Seriously, anyone remember the allegations of Manning mooning his trainer multiple times in college? Brady ditching his pregnant girlfriend?  Eli getting arrested for public intoxication? 'burger and his case with the maid?

Manziel has an ego, but his off the field antics are non-factors compared to off the field problems we've seen from many successful NFL QB's. He seems like that kind of guy who knows where the line is and never crosses it. Plus none of this ever affects his on-field play.

Sweet prospect, I like him and I think he's the perfect QB for Gus.

shouldnt you be more concerned with Trevor?

Hit the nail on the head right there.

GMs aren't dumb and they know this too.
I am opposed to the Manziel pick because he isn't right for the NFL, not because he likes to party. Who among us hasn't bumped it up with a couple hot blondes while guzzling a 750 of cheap tequila? After all, there's a time and place for everything and we call that "college."

kk

On the Dan Patrick show today, Rich Eisen said Johnny Manziel at 3 is a "no-brainer" and that Johnny might be the only rookie in the draft besides Clowney that can "flex" into a starting job his rookie season. Now, Rich isn't exactly an analyst but he does play one on TV or at least works in great proximity to Mayock, et al.

It's food for thought. People that think he's going to slip are dead wrong in my opinion. No way he makes it out of the top ten.
