I can see him as a TE. IMO

Quote:LOL I don't think this GIF of Benjamin w/ the uber blatant offensive PI should count as proof of his 'high top-end speed'.

If im the defender im having to be pulled back from the Ref standing right at the pylon cause we are gonna have some words. One of the more blatant PI blown calls to ever grace college football. Just yanks dude 2 yards to the side with no attempt to hide it. Im a FSU fan and even i have to admit plays like that should always be called. WHen i watched it the first time i thought there is no way a flag isnt thrown .

I literally almost flipped the table in front of me when they showed that replay.  I already knew we were gonna get spanked, FSU didn't need any help from the refs lol.
Quote:Sure, and if Benjamin had elite insane vice grip hands like Jeffery it would be a pretty fair comp. Unfortunately Benjamin's are average to below average.

I probably havent watched as much of him as you, only a couple cut ups. But ive notived that hes pretty strong at the catch point in the games Ive watched. Its concentration laspes during what should be routine catches is what gives him trouble. Iono maybe other games show differently.

Being an FSU fan, I've watched every game of his. You're pretty much spot on in your assessment.
being that we pick relatively high, and I wasn't allowed any trade ups/downs, I would select him in the 3rd round.

2nd round is too high for him IMO.

A better Ernest Wilford is a good comparison, and Ernest was a 4th rounder IIRC.  This WRs class is deep, I just frankly don't like Benjamin that much (and I'm an FSU fan).

Who knows, maybe I've just watched FSU too much so I can see his weaknesses.

I can see Benjamin be dominant in the right offense and the right QB.  A guy that puts the ball only where KB can get it, consistently.  I don't see that being us.

In my opinion, Benjamin and Wilford are about equal as prospects coming out of college.  Wilford was quicker and more athletic, but not as fast once Benjamin opens his stride.  Wilford also ended up having adequate hands (although I believe he struggled in college with them) while Benjamin has... inadequate hands to put it nicely.  In this draft, I'd probably value Wilford in the 4th and Benjamin in the 5th.  There are just so many good receiver prospects... No way would I waste a pick on Benjamin.

No, you're on the right track. High catch point is his strength and it is pretty strong...but still a far cry from Alshon's ridiculousness in high pointing. Kelvin is poor on the gimme concentration catches (much like Blackmon), and he drops a lot on slants and going over the middle. So pretty strong high pointing, below average when he feels vulnerable to big hits, and oft lapses in concentration equals average to below average overall hands package is what I meant.

I wouldn't argue with someone who comped him to Jeffery lite lite, but I don't think that is a top 8-10 WR or a top 60ish pick in this class.

Also Jinjo I haven't been able to watch as much on him as I would like as DB.com only has 5 cutups of his. I have watched each of those twice though, as well as most every big FSU game on TV. Including the entire NC game on my DVR twice...and that might have been his worst game. So many drops.

Just an observation.  Kelvin Benjamin is on par with Alshon Jeffery as far as catch radius goes which is amazing.  Most people don't realize that Mike Evans not only has a larger catch radius, but soars over those two by 5 inches.  I don't know for sure, but I have got to believe that Mike Evans will have by far the largest catch radius of any player in the NFL. (In a race with probably only Jadeveon Clowney, hahahaha.)

Dude looks like a lady
I think there is a chance he slips to the second.
Quote:They said the same about Alshon Jeffrey.

I remember Alshon being considered a top 10 pick....dont think Kelvin has ever been listed earlier than pick 20

I think he has better top end speed than people give him credit for, especially in pads, but he's certainly not running by anyone smaller than a linebacker in the NFL.

Top-end speed? No. He's got very good speed for a tight end working against linebackers, but his speed is very middle-of-the-road at wideout. I still think he'd be a very good "move" tight end or H-back type, but I just have a hard time picturing him as being a #1 receiver, which is what you're looking for if you draft a wideout in the first round, or even high in the second.

Quote:That dude is huge..
He has as much potential as ANY reciever in this class! If he makes it past Philly at 22, I will be shocked! Drops are the main issue I see, but he is still raw.

Sure, if every other receiver in this draft was slower than some NFL linebackers...

OK, Thanks for the heads up! Not calling him the best, said he has the potential to be.
