Pretty much what you'd expect from a former college teammate. 

Great article. No spin here. Just a ex-teammate, current Jaguar speaking of a great quarterback that he would like to play with again.

 

And no doubt it he's speaking publicly like this, Gus and Dave had already heard an earful and even more from Joekel about Johnny.

This is the NFL. Joeckel is still wet behind the ears. The reunion that many Jaguars' fans want is the one that gives us elite, franchise bookend offensive tackles for the first time in five years. That'd be Jake.

 

There's no way Luke will mutate, divide in two, in order to provide superior pass protection. 

 

Even with two elite, franchise offensive tackles you will still be dangling Manziel in front of powerful defensive linemen, who will find a way around superior pass protectors from time to time. If the quarterback is spindly all it takes is one solid sack and he's out for the season, or possibly a NFL career.

 

There's a huge difference between confidence and head-strong.

 

What I didn't like about Manziel's Pro Day was the way he was too quick to disagree with a far superior NFL expert. Johnny made immature, Byron Leftwich you're not the boss of me faces at Mike Mayock when he asked the tougher questions, and the short clip of the way he appeared to be genuinely embarrassed by barking to his receivers indicates he's going to have a long learning curve. There's nothing corny about being a total pro.

 

There is nothing Johnny Manziel faced at Texas A&M that will compare to what's in store for him in the pro ranks. 

 

The helmet and shoulder pads will probably become standards at Pro Days in the future for all prospects, but it's clear any team that drafts him is gonna have to prepare their offensive coaching staff for those days when the helmet and the shoulder pads are thrown down in disgust.

I agree Manziel needs to be 'safer' in the NFL. But his escapability, if used properly, is not more dangerous to his health, but LESS dangerous. We shouldn't confuse that. Case in point, I think it's at least of some note that "spindly Manziel" not only survived, but thrived and dominated in the defensive-monster that is SEC when fellow, less spindly and less elusive conference QBs Murray and Mettenberger(two QBs many on these boards want/are high on), came away with season ending injuries against the same competition.

It thought it was interesting Marcedes talking about Johnny bringing excitement to.....the Jaguars locker room. Typically we speak of Manziel bringing excitement or energizing the fanbase. But I think enough pro-athletes and NFL players respect and think highly of the kid, that the entire feel in our locker room could change for the better for these guys if we drafted him.

Who needs Caldwell just have rookie o-line players make the draft picks.
