Bridgewater, Carr and Boyd.. I have bad, bad feelings about those QB's..

No to Bridgewater (Geno Smith 2.0).
Yes to Bortles (but he will be gone at #1 overall), yes to Murray in the 4th or later.
Meh, on the rest.
Looks more and more like our search for the franchise QB is going to be pushed back another year.

I'll give you my top 5
1. Teddy
2. Manziel
3. Garopollo
4. McCaron
5. Boyd - He had a bad senior bowl but theres something about him off the field that tells me he wants to be the best.. a Russel Wilson type vibe.

Big no to Bortles.
No to Carr.
Meh on Mettenburger.
Thomas as a late round pick, he may bust and we can put him at T.E
Boyd.... I'd rather have Garrard.
There are two franchise QB's IMO and that is Teddy and Manziel.
I don't see the McCarron hate, he honestly reminds me of Tom Brady, I would Gabbert my pants if we got Clowney and him.
No to Carr.

Quote:There's plenty of them, but which ones do you want nothing to do with? Bortles, McCarron, Mettenburger, and Boyd. Also Morris should go without saying
Why am I so skeptical on Johnny football?? He has great college talent, won the heisman and had a great 2nd college season, but something just makes me skeptical about his talents transferring to the NFL level.

Manziel is my number one no-way prospect this year, at least not in the first two rounds. He's a great athlete, yes, but QBs like him tend to break down and lose all their mobility, which takes away a key element of their game and leaves them merely average to above-average, much like Brunell. Also, there's the whole thing about him absolutely crumbling under the pressure at Texas A&M--pressure that isn't anything close to what he'll feel as an NFL starter. I don't feel like entrusting the most important position on the team to a guy whose ego is so big that he barely fits into his helmet, and who is, imo, as likely as anyone to break down and quit three years in.
I'm not thrilled with Murray or Fales, either. I wouldn't mind Logan Thomas, but I would mind him as a QB.
I really like Bridgewater, Bortles and Mettenberger. I think that A.J. McCarron could develop into something in time, and I think that the athleticism of Brett Smith and Connor Shaw might be worth something late. Another guy whose athleticism intrigues me is DeNarius McGhee of Montana State. I don't think of him as a QB prospect, though, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he ended up being a late-round pick of a team that wants to move him to running back. Everyone else is really just kind of meh.

Just want to say that Geno Smith went through a bunch of rookie struggles, but he won 8 games and showed some major potential.. (Geno Smith 2.0) like he's already a bust or something. I thought he did a great job.

Your post makes no sense. JFF was more clutch under pressure than any of the QBs in this draft. When did he ever crumble - he brought his team back time and time again.
Bridgewater couldn't even handle the pressure of his pro day. And did you see how bad Mettenberger was against Alabama or any other team with a pass rush? He is Gabbert 2.0.

I am open and willing to give what ever QB we draft a chance. I am not a AJ Fan i will say that. I do like Johnny, i do like Mettenberger ( if hes healthy and learned his lesson) i have always liked Carr, and i will be happy with who ever we draft as it means Henne is one step closer to not being our QB

Only qb I would ok with in round one is bridgewater. I suppose I could live with bortles or manziel after the first but definitely not in the first, and I think manziel is more of a round 3 prospect. Spare me the looks the part guy in bortles.
Of all the other names I don't really care because I doubt any of them really amount to much. If one does it's more because of a team getting lucky than anything else (see r Wilson).
I was never that impressed watching Murray at GA, mettenberger didn't look like much his first year. Taj Boyd got destroyed by FSU and can't beat South Carolina. Don't know much about the Fresno state guy but I heard he looked bad the one big game they had last year. Fales - don't know, Logan Thomas sucked, mccaron played with a ton of talent.

In the NFL he won't be the superior athlete and first and foremost you have to be successful in the script from the pocket.

If some coach can get the street ball out of him he's got a chance but I think when the lights are on and live bullets are flying they go back to their instincts. Like how every off season tebow worked with the best trainers possible and fixed his mechanics but as soon as he was live he went back to that god awful soccer pass thing.

In this draft, the 2 biggest risks as far as where they need to be picked are Carr and (hope your sitting down) Manziel!

My biggest issue with him as a football player is that his 4.5 might have been a lightning bolt in college, but in the pros, there are 250-lb. linebackers who run that and will snap him in half.
Off the field, he can't handle pressure at all. Look up the story ESPN's magazine did on him, where it talks about his massive ego, his alcoholism, and his dad's assertion that he would have been happier in jail than at Texas A&M. How do you think this kid's going to do if he blows a couple of games and the local media--or worse, the national media--is all over him for it? Violent temper + alcoholism + inability to handle off-field pressure = Kerry Collins.

I think Manziel was able to handle an enormous amount of off field pressure. More pressure than any other player in the draft. And likely more pressure than he'll have to ever handle off the field in the pros. Especially if he goes to the Jags and not the NY Jets.
The other QB prospects have not faced nearly the same amount of scrutiny and pressure as Manziel.

Scrutiny? People were worshiping the ground he walked on.

And other people were writing articles for ESPN the magazine about how he was barely holding it together, or articles on TMZ about who he took home last night. Fact is Manziel is already a mega celebrity that the press follows around. Most casual fans don't even know who Bortles and Bridgewater are.
I doubt things will ever be more intense for Manziel in Jacksonville than they were for him at A&M.

I agree Jacksonville will be an easy place to hide, but all that attention in college he brought on himself.
