I watch the Patriots fall one win away from the Super Bowl last year, with nothing but a bunch of scrubs at WR, and I watch the Seahawks win the Superbowl in convincing fashion with average WR's, and it tells me that I don't need to spend the number 3 overall pick on a WR in a WR rich draft.

Unless he's Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson, or Larry Fitzgerald, I'm going elsewhere.
I wouldn't call Harvin an average receiver. But point taken.
They definitely rode that defense pretty well. How many of their defenders were 1st round draft picks?

Quote:Tom BradyYou hit the nail on the head. It's all about the QB. If you don't have one, you aren't going to win. I'm not saying that I like any of the QB's in this draft more than Watkins, but I'm just wary of using such a high pick, on what I view as a non-premium position.

And possible replacement to #5 overall Blackmon?

If you simply wait around for a franchise QB and are afraid to add talent before you find him, you won't have any talent around him when he finally does arrive. If Watkins is the best player on the board, you don't pass for such illogical reasoning.

Quote:We have Ace Sanders I see Ace progressing this year as a even better wide out, than last year. You get a decent Qb, and have a decent playbook I think this guy can be dangerous like Watkins. If you haven't notice the coaches are trusting him more as a receiver than a PR/KR I would have done the same if I saw this guy taking the initiative to develop as a WR. With the speed he has and the leaping ability to catch the football despite his height , and don't let me forget to mention those hands . This guy is Unbelievable. Cant wait till Regular Season New Qb(Hopefully) ,New O line ,New D line , Fresh Start.I Agree! I believe you need somebody who can actually throw before you find somebody who can catch.. Why draft a talent if you will never see it? Jags need QB first!

You take the highest guy on your draft board. You don't select a Qb just cause you need one.

Quote:The value of Mack + Adams/Moncrief is way better than Sammy + LEOI totally agree with this. The best scenerio would be if someone inside the top 10 wants to move up to get Watkins or one of the tackles. The Jags would get an extra 2nd and still have the possibility of getting Mack. If he's gone, they can still get an excellent first rounder like Evans, Matthews, Barr or one of the quarterbacks if they feel that guy is significantly better than a q.b. they'd take in the 2nd or 3rd.
So many quality WRs with #1 potential will be there in the 2nd round. Not many top notch pass rushers past that long.

Yes, we don't need the most dynamic Wide Out in this draft.
Yep, sure don't.

"we don't need Watkins because we have Ace Sanders???"
....and people get on me for being tough on some of the fanbase.
I think Watkins is dynamic, an immediate impact player. I think we can still get a legit deep threat guy later tho, and don't see us taking him unless we move down a few spots.
Sanders can be a fantastic player for us, but he's a ball in space type dude and slot guy. Poor man's Percy Harvin. Harvin isn't stretching the field on you, but try to tackle him in a 10' open space.

I've yet to see an NFL team that wouldn't benefit from the services of a Sammy Watkins caliber WR.

I mean what team couldn't use a field stretching WR with 4.3 speed and is dynamic in space?

You can have Jerry Rice, Otis Taylor, Charley Taylor, and John Taylor in their primes and a good coaching staff will still find a way to get plenty of use from Sammy Watkins as a WR.

Don't "need" Watkins. All I can do is laugh.
