Full Version: Has Bridgewater gone from overrated to underrated? Is he still an option at 3?

For nearly the entire college football season, the spotlight was on Bridgewater. He was the slam dunk number one pick. He was probably a little overhyped if we are being honest. And like Lou Ferrigno said in Pumping Iron, "the king of the hill has nowhere to go but down". And that is what happened with Bridgewater. Size concerns, arm concerns, mediocre pro day. He's sliding down draft boards. Or is he? None of us really know. But while it seems like he may have been a little overrated previously, I think he is being underrated now.

He is still the same QB he was last season. His thin frame is a legit concern, as it should be. Can he hold up to the punishment that NFL quarterbacks take? Time will tell. Is he any smaller than a Tom Brady was when he came into the league? But his ability is there. Lets forget his Pro Day for a second and talk about what we saw on the field. He's accurate. He's mobile. He appears to have good pocket presence. And while he does not have a cannon for an arm, his arm is strong enough. And he is still the most "NFL ready" quarterback in this draft.

It's funny how fast things can change. For probably a full calendar year, the name Teddy Bridgewater was on the tip of everybody's tongue when it came to the Jaguars 2014 draft plans. For the first half of this past season, it looked like a slam dunk that Teddy was going to be a Jaguar. There were Tank 4 Teddy signs. Teddy Franchise meme's. It was about a sure thing as sure things get. But then...the Jaguars won some games. They beat Houston twice and ended up third in the draft order. The talk then turned to how Jacksonville handed Bridgewater to Houston. Now (barring a stunning move) Bridgewater will be there at 3. Could he be the choice? I don't know but I think he is an option. If the team trades down with someone like Tampa or Atlanta, the likelyhood increases.

Still the best qb in the draft I don't care about a pro day look at the game tape
I havent wavered a bit. still by far the best QB in this draft and IMO the only one worth a top 10 pick and if we take him at #3 im a happy camper. A trade back to #6 and still getting him would be ideal but either way.

I don't understand how some people are saying he could possibly fall to the 2nd round. Makes no sense. Definitely still the best QB in the draft.

I would have no issue with him at 3
He's not falling out of the top 10. I bet he doesn't make it past Minnesota at 8, as the furthest fall...

Theres still a good chance he goes #1 despite his "stock" seemingly waned.

He's the best QB from this draft class. That hasn't changed.

Haven't changed. He is the best qb prospect. Definitely worth a top pick.

+1 for quoting pumping iron.

Hasnt changed yet. It takes about four years to know who is really the best QB.

Do you really believe that?
I just watched Bridgewater highlights a few days ago and must admit this dude has the best footwork of all the QBs.  His pocket presence is incredible.
It was because only people in media and on message boards were rating him.

Now that it's the off season and he is under the scrutiny of the actual pros, the opinions that are leaking out don't paint quite a rosy picture.

And the actual pros may be wrong this time.
He seems like the most complete QB to me still, but I'm not able to watch film like scouts are either.

Sure they could be, but the point is they are the ones who actually control where he gets picked.

If the pros aren't as enamored as the media and message board posters were, then his stock will fall regardless of how his career may turn out.
Teddy Bridgewater is getting over analyzed, I asked a scout about that and he said yes that is true, if Teddy didnt come into the year as the top QB prospect and he was the late riser people wouldnt be so down on.

Frankly we don't know what teams are thinking. I think with Bridgewater it is paralysis by analysis. When you spend the entire season as the number one prospect you can only go down.
I'm gonna liken this to food because everyone loves food. You've got a dessert table. There is one cannoli left and you want it but you're third in line. I'd be sitting in that line talking about how amazing the vanilla cupcake is and how awful that cannoli is. Hoping the other people are gullible enough to believe me. I get to the table and the cannoli is still there? I'd eat it before I got back to my seat. That cannoli represents teddy. You can't blame people for trying to lower his stock.

You can judge the amount of interest he receives from the organizations at the top. If that is less than expected then is a pretty good indicator that he isn't being held in as high a regard as people believed.

It happens every year. Some media darlings plummet.

And you have ZERO idea what the amount of interest he's receiving is.  ZERO.

None of us do. I see a top prospect in the cutups I watch.  I'd be fine with him at 3.

Well he's visiting with the Jaguars, who have the third pick
