I recall a statement by Texans owner Bob Mcnair indicating the team could trade back out of the first overall pick and still get an impact defensive player.
Given what has transpired since that statement early this offseason, I can see Houston doing just that.
With this in mind, here is a top ten mock.
1. Cleveland (From Houston) Blake Bortles, QB, UCF.
2. St. Louis-Greg Robinson, T, Auburn
3. Atlanta (from Jacksonville-Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
4. Houston (from Cleveland) Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo
5. Oakland-Johnny Manziel, QB,Texas A&M
6. Jacksonville (from Atlanta)-Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
7. Tampa-Jake Matthews, T, Texas A&M
8. Minnesota-Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
9. Buffalo-Taylor lewan, T, Michigan
10.Detroit-Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
I take it you're not part of the Clowney auto-pick crowd.
Cleveland trading up to pick 1 to take Blake Bortles......wow. I would be ticked if I was a Browns fan.

To Houston or Jacksonville?
Not necessarily certain he's a scheme fit in Houston, and I could easily see Jacksonville turning in the card within a minute of Clowney still being on the board at three.
just decided to shake things up a little.

i'd be ticked if I were a Browns fan wholly independent of what happens in this draft.
The main reason I suggest this deal is because Cleveland has almost forced their own hands with what they have done at QB.
1. HOU - Jadaveon Clowney
2. StL - Greg Robinson
3. JAX - Sammy Watkins
4. CLE - Johnny Manziel
5. OAK - Khalil Mack
6. ATL - Jake Matthews
7. TB - Mike Evans
8. MIN - Aaron Donald
9. BUF - Taylor Lewan
10. DET - HaHa Clinton-Dix

I could see this, though I think I'd rather wait to get a receiver.

The way I look at it, there are four "elite" prospects. Clowney, Robinson, Watkins, Mack. My hope is we get one. I could easily see Watkins and Mack being flipped in the scenario I had. If we do go defense first, my hope is Marqise Lee would be there in the second. Although I could see a run on receivers in the mid-late first round. Teams like the Jets, Philly, KC, Carolina, San Fran, Seattle all could add WR's.

I agree with this completely, though I could say that Carolina and Kansas City were both hit so hard in free agency and retirement, they could go in any number of directions.
I can also say that this is a deep year at WR, and I think we could get a decent starter in the 3rd round. Maybe not a sober not suspended Blackmon caliber, but a decent guy.

Definitely true. I think Watkins is a special player though.
If your trading back and picking Teddy there why? Why not get Watkins there or Leverage that spot to move back farther and take Teddy. If Teddy is not gone by then he is falling to the Mid teens as no teams left need a QB other than the Vikings and I dont see them taking Teddy.

First, it was a top ten mock.
Even if I had considered the Jaguars trading back twice and out of the top ten, the Jaguars pick would not have been considered, and I would have had to go outside the top ten to see the teams that needed a WR and had the picks to move up, etc. Perhaps had I intended a full first round mock, such a scenario may have been considered. That said, any trade is much easier on a message board than it is in reality, and I would think it would be easier to deal down three spots, than to deal down three spots, and
then seven or more.
Secondly, I opted against Watkins there not because of any knock on him as a prospect, but because of position. Not only do the Jaguars have bigger needs at premium positions of QB and pass rusher, but WR is sufficiently deep enough in this draft to acquire a decent starter opposite Shorts later in the draft.
Furthermore, Tampa arguably could use a QB, as could Minnesota and Tennessee.
Every mock that has Clowney falling to #3 and then us trading that pick is just dumb.

Your reasoning was good up until the Vikings comment. They clearly need a QB. I wouldn't count on them not taking your guy.

I touched on this in your trade down thread....but using the above scenario, If I am Jax, I'd utilize another trade down; this time with Detroit, (Detroits motivation being Watkins) and then the Jags could add no less than another 2nd + 4th rounder, and then at pick 10 still have their choice of Barr, Gilbert, Ebron or Evans.

As I indicated in another thread, I would be very reluctant to trade down from 3 if Clowney were on the board.
However, it is no stretch to suggest that Caldwell may feel differently than I do.
He may value more picks in a deep draft for a talent depleted roster than simply staying at 3.
Would mind passing on Clowney if we draft Teddy and get extra picks
I don't get the hype for Bridgewater, just something i don't like about him ( maybe its me) as far as Clowney being there and the Jaguars trading, i am hoping that the Jaguars rob the bank with that trade, heck if Atlanta wants him get next years 1st, this years 1st and an extra pick this year and i make the deal.

I would take any of those at 10 and would have two additional second round picks.
That's a win, win.
Prefer Barr or Ebron, since draft is deep with WR's.
That gives the Jags three second round picks. One could be on a WR, another on a OG and the other on a CB.
Say Barr at #10, Robinson #37, Yankey #39 and Fuller/Verrett #45
Dreaming
I like the trade down but if Watkins is there you have to take him IMO
