I could see the Bucs trading up for him. I read on NFL.com that the bucs have expressed interest in trading up for a WR. I could see the Falcons trading up to 2 if Clowney is there but if both Clowney and Watkins make it to our pick I really think we could trade down. I just saw a video on NFL.com where the beat writer for the browns picked Carr at #4 because she believes the Raiders want Carr at #5. If thats really true we could potentially have Manziel or Bridgewater at 7-8.

Look, I like Derek Carr, but if he goes in the top five, someone's getting fired, and it ain't Kevin Costner.

I think the Jaguars will have some more attractive trade-down options this year than last, especially if it's for Clowney, but who knows what type of value Bradwell have assigned to the pick? Who knows if Clowney is like Cyprien was last year--someone that they like too much to risk losing in a trade back?

I read that the Vikings would look to trade up to 4 to take Carr....lol....

Figures....

Ponder, Tarvaris Jackson, Carr....more of the same QB mis-eval for that team of recent years...
If we think Manziel or Bridgwater is the guy, there's no way I'm trading back and risk losing them.  I don't mind trading back with a guy like Mack or someone in mind, but not a QB.

I don't mind trading back if the value is great, no matter who we have in mind. If Caldwell is a great GM, the benefit of a windfall of picks will out weigh the chance of missing out on Manziel or Bridgewater.
Derek Carr going in the top five is the new Ryan Nassib is going in the top ten.

Yea a GM has to be real savvy in the draft, you cant trade back and lose to guy you want, you have to have an idea of what other teams are going to do.

Its kinda like the Blackmon draft, Rams thought they could get Blackmon but they didnt think the Jaguars would draft him being that he is not a Gene Smith type guy, and Jeff Fisher was [BAD WORD REMOVED] when we took him.

Its kinda like the Blackmon draft, Rams traded back thinking they could still get Blackmon but they didnt think the Jaguars would draft him being that he is not a Gene Smith type guy, and Jeff Fisher was [BAD WORD REMOVED] when we took him.

This draft is deeper than that one.

If the Jags could get a high value return for a trade down, I'd take it and live with the results. I think the more high picks a guy like Caldwell gets the better. I don't fear losing out on Manziel or Bridgewater if the price is right. We'll still get our QB.

I read that the Browns are looking to add six QBs purely so they can start and bench them as quickly as possible in 2014. Doesn't make it any more true than reports that anyone in the top five is seriously looking at Carr, which I just can't believe. The earliest I could see Carr going is 24-25 if someone picking early in two wants to leapfrog the Browns and get him.

I greatly enjoyed the media morons who said that Nassib would be drafted by the Bills at eight overall last year.
All this trying to get cute with trades.

Either Mack or Watkins will be there. Pick one.

Picking Watkins there would be foolish, IMO. There will be WR1 quality WR at the Jags pick @ 39 if they really want one that bad.

Picking Mack @ 3 also would be foolish because he's not a slam dunk kind of prospect IMO. If you're going to use the pick at 3 and not trade down, and Clowney is off the board, you might as well just take Manziel or Bridgewater.
Just draft Watkins

Slam dunks....yea people are real good predicting those players. No one is a safe pick.

Devante Adams is a realistic possibility to still be there. As is Jordan Matthews.

Brandin Cooks is a legit comparison to Steve Smith unlike the many phony comparison's of tiny receivers to Steve Smith of the past X number of years...

They all could still be there at the Jags 2nd pick.

how does that make sense?

if he wasn't considered a "sure thing", then why would it be ok drafting him in the top 10?

bottom line, the dropoff after Clowney is significant, so unless you're completely sold on one of the QBs, Mack or Watkins make a lot of sense

You think Cooks will be there at 39?

That's like saying the Bengals shouldn't have taken AJ Green because Randall Cobb was there in the second round. The guys you listed could be solid NFL receivers.

Watkins is an elite prospect with star potential.

LOL... Mack is closer to "slam dunk" than either Manziel or Bridgewater.
