While I can see that line of thinking, from a scientific standpoint, the number of planets or galaxies neither decrease or increase the chances of extraterrestrial life, even if that number were "∞". 

 

The normal person in me wants and believes there is life out there though. There has to be.

But imagine the opposite for a moment.  We are alone, and this is all there is.  This.  Here.  Now. 


 

A planet at the perfect place at the perfect time in space for LIFE.


 

The lesson would have to be- enjoy LIFE while we have it.
