Toby will prove to be the best offseason move IMO
Quote:Well we have been active is FA before, but at the cost of overpaying for sub par talent. The best part of this regime is going after the right guys for the right price.

No... I mean day 1 free agents.. How many years in the past has the Jags organisation sat back for a couple of days on the start of free agency to let to market determine things for them? Damn near every year that I've been a fan.. Since the beginning... It's nice to have a FO who know what they want and arn't afraid to go get it..
Best move was letting MJD walk without an offer.

I think signing Toby was smart but maybe they shouldve fought to keep Maurice....

Why? MJD is an aging, worn down back who is really starting to become injury prone.. He may have something left in the tank, but this team has a stable of fresh legs just ready to prove themselves..
Maybe you are right, and maybe Maurice Jones-Drew is all washed up & with the horrible offense of the Raiders he will never again look as glorious as he did in a Jaguars uniform ... but maybe you are wrong and he might win player of the year this season...

Only time will tell...

Dave will either be a genius or a fool...

Wait what? You think MJD is going to win some kind of player of the year award??? So you're saying a guy who has never won any kind of player of the year award is suddenly going to win one this upcoming year? ON THE RAIDERS?!

I don't need time to tell me that one.... the answer is very clear... NO

Im just happy to see us being aggresive in free agency with the right people.

There's always a possibility, yes.. But, you have to play the odds. MJD is a lotto ticket, and chances arn't very good.. Odds are, MJD is done as an elite back.. Was just time to cut ties.. Now with that said, I'd be right there with you if they didn't sign Toby..
I doubt he'll win player of the year award, I mean that is a bit extreme, only used it as an example of excellence he might succeed at on a different team (anything's possible in the NFL).

I never expect the Jaguars to drop the kind of money that say the Redskins owner does in Free Agency but look at the misses they had too;

The Redskins are going to fail this season once again.

No.. it's not. MJD will not win a single award in the NFL. He won't even come close to winning another rushing title... Honestly. I think he will be lucky to crack 1,000 in a season again.

RB's fall off fast... like real fast.
Holding onto players who hinder this team and not help it, is what kept this team in the basement for this long..

Yes.. Alualu is next once some rookie or 2nd year player beats him out. I could see Abry Jones outplaying him in camp..

Yep, its rare that one doesn't. Fred fell quickly, Shaun Alexander - same thing....

I agree, but to Alualu's defense, this organisation really reached on him when he was drafted.. Not really his fault . Gene was so gung ho about trying to find diamonds in the rough, that he helped bury this organisation so deep, that it's taking a team of archaeologists to excavate it..

Why can't he just be a GM that made a move regarding his roster? I don't understand the need to put an extreme label on the man based off of one move.

So sad Sad At least Dave understands what he is doing and actually has a plan in place..
