Even if they beef up the O-line with the draft and FA Romo fell apart behind one of the best ones in football. He is legit inury prone and all QBs takes hits throughout every game just maybe not as mank sacks.

 

He is too old to trade anything more then a 5th for and I personally wouldn't do that much.

Romo was rushed back for his second collar bone. Peyton was coming back from neck surgery that was extremely serious lets not pretend that it was just any old season he missed. People were legitimately scared he wouldnt walk after taking a hit. And please spare me the Romo choke narrative while youre bringing up Peyton, if you cant see the irony in that idk what to tell you.


But alright, Romo is injury prone. Lets not bother taking a risk that if payed off would more than likely pay off in droves. Instead lets just sit on our hands and hope some stiff competition between Blake Bortles(whos played SO well for us so far) and Mike Glennon/Nick Foles/Matt Moore(who have some very illustrious careers on their own) to get this franchise some wins again. Surely going into the season with all your stock on a quarterback whos been bottom 5 for 3 seasons and another who couldnt start is destined for success.

No and Dallas will likely do him a solid by trading him to a contender like Denver should they be interested.

I hear Steve Young stays in shape. The Jags should shoot him a call.

I would definitely trade a 4th, and I could even consider a 3rd for him.

Peyton has 2 rings. Does Romo even have 2 playoff victories? I'm not even willing to continue that conversation, as even SLIGHTLY trying to insinuate Romo is in the same SCHOOL, let alone CLASS as Peyton is absolutely laughable.


Yes, Peyton's one injury was very scary. The upside of Peyton was INFINITELY higher than Romo or any other QB not named Brady.


The problem with your argument is that its a complete fallacy. It's not "Romo or nothing". There are better options out there than Romo. Garrapolo showed promise, Matt Moore showed some promise, etc.


Yes, I want REAL competition to be brought it. I don't yet know where that comes from. I know it's not Romo, though. Romo has talent, but he's incredibly fragile. It's been that way his whole career. I just can't put my chips behind a guy who is more likely than not to be injured and fail to finish the season.

Anyone who thinks remotely that Romo couldn't push Bortles to backup is in love with Mediocrity. Dallas at that time played in a much tough division.  And if Romo is a better option then drafting a unknown then you take the chance.  And if it fails ya grab the future the next year. 

 

Or a qb to groom.  Romo>Bortles if was on Jaguars.

No one insinuated Romo was in the same class as Peyton, but to talk about Romo not getting it done in dec/jan when Peyton is infamous for being that exact guy is just a poor argument to make.

Garropolo is an average game manager playing on the best franchise in football, I have no idea what this boards obsession with that guy is. Matt Moore is a journeyman, Glennon is a career backup, Nick Foles is garbage, etc etc. None of these guys are better players than Romo. None of these guys have shown any play indicating they could hold a candle in the playoffs, none of these guys have shown any indication they could ever win a superbowl. Theyre just guys better than our bottom 5 bust qb but theyre nothing worthwhile even attempting to plan for. And if youre not looking for a guy that has a chance to compete against real teams then im not sure exactly what youre in this all for.


Its like the idea of risk/reward is completely lost around here. Idk about you but id like to win right now, the culture of this team is so damaged that we pretty much need to win now or we risk entering browns territory where guys leave as quick as they can. Romo is the only guy that can do that, so you RISK what you feel is fair for the potential REWARD of a quarterback that is actually cut out for the NFL.

Aside from that, what's the reason to bring him in? If it's to compete with Bortles, then sure. If it's because you think suddenly Romo makes this team a championship contender, please pass me whatever you're smoking.

It's simple.


The greatest and most important ability, is availability.


Romo can't give you that. He's proven it throughout his career.


Find someone else. Maybe that means in 17 we don't find that guy.


None of this has anything to do w/ Bortles. He's either got to improve significantly, or be replaced. I think we all can agree there.


I don't know that his replacement is available in 17. I know Romo isn't the answer. I know the draft doesn't have any stand out QBs that jump off the page. I know that none of the potential FA QBs are really THAT exciting... which is why 17 may simply be bringing in legitimate competition for Bortles, as a stop gap, until we can find the long-term answer at QB.
