Scott Wright has him ranked much lower than that.

Quote:Some sleeper prospects I like for the Jags to consider are:Can almost guarentee Desir goes in the late first to 2nd round range. Very good prospect.
CB Pierre Desir, 6' 1", 200, .....seems to have a nose for the football, as he has totaled something close to 20 INT's for his college career. Would give our secondary something it lacks. Projected to go in round 3.
DE Larry Webster, 6' 6", 261, 4.58, from Bloomsburg U, late round DE prospect with great size for the position as well as good timed speed. IIRC, once recorded 19 QB sacks in a season. Projected to go in round 5-6.
FS Deone Buchanon, Washington St, 6' 1", 211, again, a player with a good nose for the football. Would give this secondary something it lacks. Projected to go in round 4.
WR Jeff Jaris, Saginaw Valley State, 6'2", 219, 4.42, uber productive WR with good size. projected to go in round 6.
WR Montavis Bryant, Clemson, 6' 4", 211, 4.4, very high YPC type, but needs some polish....would be a good add for coach Sullivan to work with. Projected to go in round 4.

Quote:With his size, skill set and production Desir is likely to go on the second day. With the "Seattle model" being the flavor of the month you could see him, Keith McGill and Bashuad Breeland go earlier than normal.
Quote:He's same height & weight as Rashean. THe Jags drafted Rashean in the 2nd round back then, too, so maybe they could sort of repeat history by taking Desir at 37. Desir surely would provide them with a playmaker in that secondary.
Quote:I would be surprised. I think they like what they have with Gratz, Ball, Blackmon and McCray. I would not ruling out taking one later if the value is there. I am thinking the first four or five picks will be some combination of QB, WR, interior line, pass rusher and WLB.
Quote:Then maybe they should trade down from 3 and stockpile instead.
They could get all of that you mention (QB, WR, pass rusher, WLB....etc....) + Desir by trading down and stockpiling.
To act like a secondary of Gratz, Ball, Blackmon & McCray is good enough is silly. The Seattle defense never really ascended to that next level until Earl Thomas came aboard. Our defense needs that turnover machine too. Desir could be that.
Quote:lol....Nobody said that.
Quote:well, thats essentially what you are saying in not so many words by advocating passing on a great playmaking prospect like Desir just to address other area.
How often does an opportunity to draft a player like a Desir come along? Why pass it up just so you can get the "next best" WLB, or WR, or what not.
Quote:Um....every year?
Quote:Desir is a nice prospect but is still pretty raw. Mathis was a better prospect. He played at a higher level than Desir and was the Div 1-AA Defensive Player of the Year. I would say Mathis was also faster.
Quote:Then maybe they should trade down from 3 and stockpile instead. To orchestrate a trade down Clowney would have to be there at three

with st Louis just above us and us needing a qb too if someone wants a QB better to leapfrog us and get there guy at 2
Quote:Not necessarily, I still think the QB will generate interest.
