People have twittered about this stuff on their spaceface pages. That happened.

Dude, people have changed what they are talking about what may happen in May. That's huge. I mean, people who write words about sports teams are now writing different words about those sports teams.

Read that last sentence again if you can. They are writing different words now. You need to face the virtual reality that you're as stoopid as a bottle of monkey wrenches.

Oh.
I fully expect the Texans to take Clowney. And thus, I hope Caldwell drafts whichever Johns Hopkins orthopedic surgeon graduates at the top of his class.
We are not one player away from a playoff chase. So no reason to trade up. I see khan pulling rank and Johnny football coming to jax. My pick be Mack watkins or trade down. But Johnny football will be a jag. As long as no one jumps us for him.
Depends more on the QBs than on him.  Texans have Watt and have a way bigger need at QB.  If one of the QBs there can be "the guy", then they won't draft Clowney.  He can own his Pro Day all he wants, but QBs will always come first if there's a good one there.  Unlikely he goes to STL at that point, so unless someone trades up for him, he'd be at 3.

A lot can happen, but however it shakes out should be good for the Jags.  They might be able to drop to #10 and still get a player they like.  I keep hearing that quality starters will be found in this draft deep into the 4th and 5th rounds.  Of course a certain percentage of each round won't pan out, so it's a key draft for Dave Caldwell.  The Jags are in good position in a deep deep draft.  He needs to maximize value and show the discernment (or the luck) to make the right choices.

Using favorable, conservative numbers...

1.  Probability of Texans selecting:

Bortles/Manziel: 49%, Clowney 51%

2.  Probability of Rams selecting:

Watkins: 51%, trade pick to someone selecting Clowney 49%

So, Texans selecting QB (.49) X Rams selecting Watkins (.51) = 0.2499 or 25% chance we get Clowney.

I don't think anyone is trading with the Texans.  So, it's QB or Clowney.  With the Rams, I think the pick is Watkins unless Clowney falls to 2 where someone will want to go get him since he shouldn't be there.

So at best, I say 25%.

The Rams need to understand that if Clowney is on the board and they trade their pick to someone who wants him, there's a legitimate chance they will not be able to get Watkins.

There's so many reasons for the Rams to stay put. I could go on and on. It's the Texans I'm worried about.

Unfortunately, the Rams don't have Gene Smith drafting for them, so the chances of them falling in love with only Sammy Watkins, in a deep WR draft is unlikely. They know that even if they don't get Watkins, they'll still be able to get Mike Evans, or whomever.

Leftwich, Gene Smith... all we need is a good JDR hijack for the trifecta now...
20-25%
Mack & Watkins........better than 90%

Sammy Watkins is the best receiver in the draft and it's not really close. He's also not really a reach at #2 considering the recent stock drops of the QBs. I'd say he might be the 2nd highest valued player in the draft behind Clowney.

It depends on if the Rams want him, and I think they do.

Also there's a difference between falling in love and falling in love with the wrong player.

EDIT: As for Houston, Clowney simply doesn't fit where they want to plug him in. Clowney is a traditional 4-3 DE. He can't play standing up and he looked stiff when he attempted to simulate that during his pro day. Perhaps maybe Houston even saw this.

Clowney's best destination for success is Jacksonville.

Hey all,

I'm a Rams fan. Because we have two top 13 picks, I'm visiting other NFL team's message boards to get fans' perspectives on who their team might draft. This time of year is slow and the wait for the draft seems to take forever (and as a Rams fan, the draft has been all we've had to look forward to for 10 years running now).

Anyways, I wanted to let you all know that I think its very unlikely the Rams draft a WR this year. Anything is possible, and I'm no closer to Les Snead or Jeff Fisher than any of you guys are, but WR really isn't as big a need as some would have you think. It usually takes several years for WRs to develop, and we've drafted 4 the past two years. It would be a much smarter decision to see what we have, rather than spend another premium pick on another. I'd be okay with us drafting Watkins, but I'd be much happier with Clowney, Matthews, or Robinson.

Clowney, while not a need, would give us arguably the best defensive line in football. He seems to be the consensus best player in the draft.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I'd put the chances of Clowney falling past our pick to basically zero. We'll either draft him, or take a trade down that you wouldn't expect - this year's class is so deep (according to GMs and draft pundits), that just taking someone's 2nd round pick for example, would likely be enough compensation. Especially considering that, if we were to trade with Atlanta for example, we would still get a very good player at pick 6.

Why take any position at 2 when you can just take it later in the draft?

The Rams found out what you mentioned first hand two years ago when they lost out on Justin Blackmon as a result of trading down.  While Blackmon's NFL career is well documented,  it doesn't change the fact that the Rams were targeting him with pick # 6 after trading down with the Redskins.
That's assuming that the Rams covet Watkins, which we don't.

You can't believe everything you hear/read this time of year, but last year we weren't shy about talking: before the draft Les Snead said playmakers come in all shapes and sizes.....and we draft Tavon Austin. There have been other hints dropped the last two years, and it has seemed that they have followed what they say to the media.

This year, they've basically said we won't be targeting a WR. Take it for what its worth, but I believe it. Its Clowney, Matthews, or Robinson for us. Since Matthews or Robinson can be had at 6, it's Clowney or trade down.

If rams wanted only a 4th to trade up id do it in a heart beat.

As for them waiting for Evans in the draft instead of taking Watkins at 2, I just don't think what they need is a big bodied receiver, they genuinely need a guy who can stretch the field, Watkins drawing the defense deep opens up big plays short for Austin, and vice versa, Evans just won't have that impact.

I think there's a good chance we could get Clowney, talk of teams like the Patriots drafting a qb will help us because it'll make the Texans realise how few legitimate qbs will be available for their 2nd pick.
