"friendly" is a term created by the people on the other side of the pond meaning exhibition game, essentially. THEM using that term doesn't bother me. US using it does. We're poseurs if we use it, they aren't. Its their word.

Its no different than the way English people refer to your [BAD WORD REMOVED] as your "bum". 2 different words, meaning the same thing. But American's are so caught up in terms that they latch on to the way Eurpoeans say stuff as if it has different meaning if you say it the way they say it.... Thats why that toilet paper commercial with that lady saying "bums" 75 times is so acceptable to Americans on our TV, - if it was just some lady continuously saying "[BAD WORD REMOVED]" people would think its disgusting, even though ITS THE SAME THING!!

The poseurs act as if calling it a "friendly" (rather than "an exhibition") changes its importance or something.

Its almost like when some internet loser tries to naturally use a french word like poseur instead of English words like "wannabe" or "imposter".

You look like the biggest poseur around.

And as I am sure you will no doubt try and lol and berate me for "not knowing the word poseur", rest assured I do. It's just you look so much dumber using that word ten times a day as opposed to a soccer fan using the word "friendly".

Great point. Truly irony at it's best. TMD has used the "Poseur" in so many threads.

I like how you know exactly what the "poseurs" think. That is quite a feat. Maybe they call that because that is what the sport calls it. Are they "poseurs" too if they say futbol instead of soccer too, or no? What other rules of yours should people follow?

If Americans say "futbol", then 100% poseurs.

These aren't rules of "mine", but merely simple common sense concepts that shouldn't be that difficult to understand. Americans call it soccer, Europeans call it futbol. If you are born in this country, you call it soccer.

Holy cow. You have some serious issues.
I joined the American Outlaws because i thought it was something cool to join and help follow futbol more closely.

I'm such a poseur.

I found this funny on urbandictionary regarding poser/poseur

poseur
Poseur is the correct version of the more common "poser". The term is used for 2 reasons-

A) As an insult, used by one who is insecure and attempts to enhance their image by making people believe they have the authority to call someone else a poseur,

or

B) One who groups him or her self in a particular social clique in order to appear trendy or "edgy" but doesn't believe in the principals held by said clique and is only leeching onto it in order to avoid the social ridicule of not being part of a clique. A poseur will probably change their "style" once every 6 months, possibly more.

The common thread is insecurity- the insecurity to be yourself and be happy with it. Poseurs are the kinds of people who only appear "cool" to people who are just as insecure as they are. But no one ever found success lying to themselves for acceptance.

lol citing the urban dictionary as a source, huh? Laughing
One of the best atmospheres going today in sports anywhere will be taking place tomorrow at 3:00. Portland-Seattle. It is a must watch in my opinion. Been a great game as of late, and the crowd is unreal.

At Seattle? Seems like their crowds are just top notch no matter what sport it is.

It's at Portland. Home teams listed first in soccer. Awesome, crazy, great, fun atmosphere. Both Portland and Seattle rock. Philly not bad, Houston really coming along too as far as atmosphere.

Just googled the Portland capacity, 20,500, and the place rocks like it's double that. Seattle averages right at 40K per game.

Portland used to be a great atmosphere for the Trailblazers back in the Clyde Drexler days.

Damn near impossible to get Timbers tickets. They are kinda a big deal round these parts.
And it shows, that's for sure.
