I don't know if Murray will be there in the 4th. Also, if he's only as good as Andy Dalton, then it's a waste of a pick. We can be an 8-8 team with Henne.

8-8 team? Waste of a pick?

Don't look now but Andy Dayton has been in the playoffs every year his been in the league. His worst statistical year would be the best year a Jaguar QB has ever had.

I'm not a huge fan of his, but to act like he is complete garbage is just ridiculous.

The 2014 College Draft is approaching us and I have put together my mock draft for my peers consideration.

Without adieu:

Rd 1(3): Khalil Mack - OLB/DE - Buffalo - 6'3" 251 Lbs 4.65/40

Simply put I think he will represent the BAP assuming that Clowney is gone.

Rd 2(39) - TRADE to JETS for Picks 49 (Rd 2) and 115 (Rd 4) - More picks to rebuild with

Rd 2(49) Weston Richburg - C - Colorado State - 6'3" 298 Lbs 5.10/40

Marcus Martin is picked by the Ravens one selection ahead, but Richburg should be the Jags starting Center for the next 10 years

Rd 3(70) Dakota Dozier - OG - Furman - 6'4" 313 Lbs 5.42/40

Jags need another interior Olineman and Dozier has some special skill sets that will help him win a starting job perhaps as soon as his rookie season

Rd 4(105) - Robert Herron - WR - Wyoming - 5'9" 193 Lbs - 4.48/40

Jags need more depth at WR

Rd 4(114) Jordan Tripp - OLB - Montana - 6'3" 234 Lbs 4.67/40

Jags need more depth at the OLB position

Rd 4(115) Aaron Murray - QB - Georgia - 6'1" 207 Lbs

Murray will sit out his rookie season but in my mind is as talented as Andy Dalton of the Bengals

Rd 5(144) Jerrick McKinnon - RB - Georgia Southern - 5'9" 209 Lbs 4.41/40

Another QB to RB candidate that has some special skillsets

Rd 5(150) Kevin Norwood - WR - Alabama - 6'2" 198 Lbs 4.48/40

More WR depth - pretty good possession WR out of the SEC

Rd 5(159) Brent Urban - DE/DT - Virginia - 6'7" 295 Lbs

More depth at the DE position

Rd 6(179) Matt Patchan - OT/OG - Boston College - 6'4" 302 Lbs 4.97/40

Talented Olineman  who had a string of injuries that beset him since his days with the Gators

Rd 7(205) - Brett Smith - QB - Wyoming - 6'2" 206 Lbs

Another QB to throw into the mix

Rd 7(222) Walt Aikens - CB - Liberty - 6'1" 4.49

If not for his checkered background could be a mid round selection
That is the least sexiest mock I've ever seen, but it isn't bad.

Thanks for the mock draft, Stigma. They are always fun to look at and thought provoking. I can't take issue with most of your picks as they are all conceivable. The most interesting part of your draft are the selections in rounds 2 and 3. Richberg and Dozier are solid picks at positions of need. Although the 2nd round may be early to take a center, the Jaguars can't afford to miss out on one of the top players at this position. I'd probably rather the Jags make a move for DeLaPuenta so they would have the option to take another pass rusher like Crichton in the 2nd. Although I love the acquisition of Clemons, he can only be counted on for a few years so I'd like to see a high pick on a pass rusher.
If we are going to trade back in the 2nd I want that pick to be fales. Thats my ideal scenario if they dont like any of the "big3" QBs.

Get either Mack/Clowney then pick up an extra 4th or 3rd and pick Fales in the 2nd. Maybe move back into the 2nd to take Devante Adams (the one on Louisville not sure on spelling).

Fales sucks dude.

Adams is the one on Fresno St. (and would be a very good pick at 39). Parker is the one on Louisville and he didn't declare unfortunately.

Yep, not sure how people could hate Murray but like Fales.
Quote:Yep, not sure how people could hate Murray but like Fales.
Because Fales can function without a perfect pocket, has room for progress, is bigger, healthy, and more consistent ?

Your Aaron Murray love looks a lot like your Matt Barkley love. Chip loves his value so much he signed Mark Sanchez to compete with him.

Who "hates" Murray?

I don't think people truly realize how bad our QB's (including Henne) have been.
Quote:Yep, not sure how people could hate Murray but like Fales.
Mostly what KL1gus said. As of right now they are similar but Fales can manipulate the pocket much better and is a fair bit bigger. He also doesn't use his legs as much as he should in his throwing motion, so that suggests that with some small tweaks he could improve his velocity substantially.

I don't love him as a developmental guy because I think he is mostly maxed out right now too, and would certainly rather have Brett Smith, but Fales would be a solid third round consolation QB if we pass on QB at 3 and also pass on Brett Smith.

I read a not too flattering opinion on Richburg, but I'm upset I can't find it to give it due.

He has outstanding quickness, but may fall due to marginal size.  But, that may not be an issue in our ZBS.  If we were to target him, I'd think we'd be better off hoping he drops to the third and look elsewhere if he doesn't.

Give me Robinson over Adams at 39

Thoughts:

Mack - Kind of high for him, but I get it. I don't know that I agree with it, but I get it.

Richburg - Kinda bummed to see Martin gone ahead of us. Would have preferred him over Richburg.

Dozier - Like it. He fits.

Herron - Meh.

Tripp - Bradley will love this guy being on the roster. Maybe not on the field, but on the roster.

Murray - Like it

McKinnon - Don't know anything about him. Looking forward to learning more.

Norwood - Like this one too

Urban - Need to look him up as well.

Patchan - Can't go wrong with a BC Lineman!

Smith - He lasts until the Seventh?!?!?

Aikens - Ain't nothing wrong with a bad boy in the Secondary.

This

I'm sick of the Andy Dalton bashing us Jags fans would love to have a QB that good, yall need to get off your high horses acting like we are coming off Tom Brady as our QB.
As the Jaguars QB, Dalton would only be barely better than Henne.

Quote:As the Jaguars QB, Dalton would only be barely better than Henne.

This made me laugh
To elaborate Dalton is only average at managing the pocket, miss reads and doesn't anticipate. If we compare him to Henne, Dalton is only a better (yet more conservative) decision maker and he handles the pocket a bit better. With the Jaguars OL and receiver corps, Dalton would look putrid.

Hmmm, I like Adams.....That'd be a tough one.
