Neat
I was shocked at this. Thought he and Seattle were a lock.

Especially since he said he's chasing a ring.  I think the Seahawks will repeat before the Bears make it.
I didn't click the link so I don't know if they said what money he signed for but he's a good pickup for the Bears.  He's always been productive and he's a good locker room guy.  I've always enjoyed Jared Allen.

Defensive end Jared Allen agreed to a four-year contract with the Chicago Bears on Wednesday. The deal is worth $32 million but voids down to a $24 million deal over three with $15.5 million guaranteed, FOX Sports 1 Insider Mike Garafolo reports.

Correct. The bears still have Cutler, they're not in serious contention. Turns out it really was about the money for him. Not that it's surprising or unusual.
It's all about the money.
In the end he's staying in the NFC Central, not surprised at that, but when FA started - I thought it would have been with Green Bay instead. Given the money, I think they should have taken Allen over Peppers.

IMO,  one huge question regarding the Bears signing Jared Allen is how well his present day skills will factor in playing on the slow Soldier Field grass field.   Allen benefited greatly by playing half of his games on the Metrodome/  Mall of America field turf,  in a loud domed stadium.

While Allen has amongst the best playing instincts I've seen from a DE and is a player I won't count out until he retires because of his overall intangibles,   he probably would have been better off going to a team that plays in a loud artificial turf surface stadium.
