On offense, he mentions a QB need, but sees the QBs as not particularly ready to play right away.  He notes that Chad played better in the second half of the season and would be better going forward with an improved line and, interestingly to note, additional outside threats.  It sounded that his desire is not just one WR, but to pick up a couple.

You can trade down using other picks besides the first rounder.

I don't think it would be smart to trade pick number 3. This team needs an elite talent and passing on Clowney, Mack, Watkins, or a qb (if they like one) would be a mistake. Trade back in round 2 picking up an extra 3rd or 4th.
If you can trade back to the 6-8 spots and get a Barr and a 2nd perfect.

I also think they are looking at Garrop as the QB just my gut feeling.

Oh great another blaine gabbert and we should trust his credibility as a GM if he make this move.

No Barr at 6... too high. Lets say it plays out like this:

1. Bortles

2. Robinson

3. ATL- trade Clowney

4. Watkins

5. Teddy

6. JAX- Mack

And ATL gives us their 2nd round pick... I would absolutely love it. Use the 2nd rounder on Garropolo and an athletic TE and you got it made.

Mack, Garropolo and Amaro
Quote:We'll take a QB. Just not at #3 like the Bridgewater brigade and the JFF fanclub has been hoping, praying, wishing for. If we have an opportunity to trade down I hope Caldwell jumps on it.

I agree.  Especially with as deep this draft is.  Through round 4 you're probably going to find talent graded a round higher than where you take them.  Perhaps even into round 5.

Honestly, I'm really beginning to be high on Murray, Mettenberger, and McCarron (to a point).  If we can snag Clowney or Watkins and pick up one of those 3 later I'd be all for it, because Murray has it in him to be a franchise QB if he sits for a year (IMO).

How does sitting a year help Murray?

The only one out of those three I'd be ok taking is Mett. I think he has the tools to be a good qb.

If we are waiting til later (I hope we don't) then just go for broke and take Logan Thomas.
I still cannot believe all of this love for Murray.....

Agreed... Not sure how you can "come around" on a guy who hasn't done a single thing in the past 5 months.
We're waiting for Winston

Didn't he say similar things about Gabbert?

1,2,2,3,4,4,5,5,5,5,6,6,7

That's a LOAD of players to draft and considering that almost ALL of Caldwell's draft picks last year showed some sort of potential and effectiveness, a trade down would be a no brainer to me
I agree. I just think it's more likely ATL makes a move with the Rams, if they were to move up.

I know, Murray was complete garbage against top 20 teams his whole career

I like that .... new slogan .... WAITING FOR WINSTON

I've seen a ton of Georgia games and this guy completely folds when things aren't going his way. You could see it in his face. He's got some good arm talent that's for sure, but he's coming off an ACL tear. He reminds me A LOT of Mark Sanchez.
The problem I see for the Jaguars is, based on what I'm reading, half of the GMs in the NFL want to trade down this year.

Good luck finding someone who will trade up.

Tank for teddy!! Possibly trade down for teddy! Probably not draft him even if he's available!
I liked his comment about wanting to find 3 possibly 4 immediate starters in this draft.

@AdamSchefter: Atlanta Falcons are open to trading up in draft, per league sources. Falcons are first team known to be willing to go up.
