I don't see why Carr can't be in the discussion for #1 QB. I've liked him more than Bridgewater or Manziel. I've recently warmed up to Bortles since watching more of him. To me, Carr and Bortles are the only QB's I'd consider at 3.

Even more impressive, Carr battled thru a flu at his pro day:

Quote:Per the Associated Press, Derek Carr received IV fluids and medication after waking up vomiting.
“There were a couple of times my stomach was very tight, knotted up, but I had to take the game-day mindset and stay totally focused on the task at hand,” Derek Carr said, adding that he nearly threw up only once.

I think Carr in round 2 would be a good pick. I'm pretty sure Gus is high on him.

We should not get TB just so we dont have to deal with that picture resurfacing over and over. Theyre all gonna laugh at us.

When I watch Bridgewater, I can't help but feel that he's conservative by nature. If his first couple of reads are not there, he'll check it down. Always. I know it sounds like an odd criticism to make, because it sounds like that's what any decent QB will do. But IMO, the great QB's take chances even if their man is open slightly. And when Bridgewater DOES take his shots deep, is almost always overthrown, which is aggravating.
I really like Carr's physical tools. He has a better arm than all of the 'top 3' QB's (Bortles, Bridgewater, Manziel). He's a good athlete boasting a 4.69 40. He has the size. But above all of those things that are easy to see, I really like his throwing talent. When you watch him, he makes those high-difficulty throws. He can actually hit a streaking WR in stride(Something I don't see Bridgewater do consistently). The deep in, outs, comebacks, post routes, he can throw with ease. And he throws the best Fade route in the draft.
I really like his competitiveness. You can see when he misses a throw that he should make, he claps his hands in digusts, screaming at himself. And it's not forced. I believe it really irks him to make mistakes.

He has a ton to work on too though.

Bridgewater's weakness is definitely his deep ball, but he's pretty good otherwise

Just based on the games I watched, the coaching staff was ultra conservative. I definitely think they were holding him back some.

He is the new Gabbert.... has all the physical traits. But pees down his leg when the bullets start flying.
I wouldnt take Carr until the 4th round. Too many potential starters at other positions in the 2nd or 3rd round we'd be passing on to take him. Once you hit the 4th round you are lucky if those guys are on the team 3 years later. Thats where you take Carr.

Jags have the picks to jump back into the end of the first round and take him. That's the plan.

I would be fine with Carr in the 2nd.
