Hmmm

He's been somewhat of a disappointment considering where he was drafted. I doubt it would be much money.

Not even sure he's an upgrade over Clay Harbor.
Not joking.
Not joking.

I can agree with that. I know I've seen him make some plays and I thought he had some promise. I'm not sure if Pitta stole his thunder or what.

Yea I've seen him play a lot in Baltimore, I've came away each time unimpressed.

RE: TE Ed Dickson -> Guess I'll take the role of stating what appears on every thread ..... "If Gus can't fix him, nobody can. He was misused on the insert team name here. He fits in good with our LEO scheme."

edit: he's not as bad as first assumed, but...
If this causes us to pass on Troy Niklas in the draft, I'll be ticked off.

In wouldn't think low end free agent pickups would alter any draft plans. In a perfect world no free agents would alter any draft plans.

Maybe they see something in the guy. Pretty underwhelming statistically.

You gotta little thing for this Niklas guy?

He even got his opportunity last year in Pitta's absense and was mediocre at best.

I know its uncommon around here to promote the Jags getting players that will actually make a difference, as seen from the Emmanuel Sanders/ Dekota Watson love on those threads....but to answer the question, yes. He is going to be a future perennial pro bowl level TE. I want the Jags to be the ones enjoying those benefits, not some other team.
It would be beyond stupid of Caldwell to allow this Ed Dickson signing to alter drafting either Niklas or Ebron. (or maybe even the 3 named dude).
This signing seems like a waste of time & money even if its cheap (which I am sure it will be).

Camp guy, little chance he makes the team.

You are talking about a guy who would be a backup at best. I don't see why that would alter any draft plans.
But it is unlikely they were taking a tight end that early anyway. But this way you can get upset when they don't.

It wouldn't be too early to take Niklas with their 2nd rounder. TE is just as big of a need of an upgrade as other positions on this team.

what if they never planned on drafting any of those guys in the first place?

I gave no opinion on Niklas.
As I said, it is very unlikely they take a tight end early. And you'll get mad when it plays out that way.
