If we're going Murray in the 3rd, I'd rather go Clowney and then Swanson or something similar.  O-line is more important than grabbing another receiver.

I wouldn't hate it.

Give me Mettenberger over Murray every day of the week

I was just assuming Clowney would go 1st
Quote:Jaguars are drafting one QB only, probably the 3rd, Logan Thomas.  The biggest ceiling of all the QBs. He has what scouts look for, arm strength, speed, height, weight.  He just needs some guidance between the ears. Will sit behind Henne.  If he gets it, Super Bowl bound.  Can't be scared of high risk, high reward players.
Logan Thomas? I'm sorry I cant think of 1 QB in the last 15 or so years that stunk in college and just magically become good in the NFL, now their are QB's in the early years that did it, but in the new era NFL it just dont happen, heck QBs who are great in college have a hard time making it in the NFL, Thomas would be a solid TE.

QB's I like in the mid rounds

David Fales

Jimmy Garoppolo

Zach Mettenberger

I could name 10 quarterbacks who I'd rather draft than Murry, some of which will likely go later than him.

Lol Logan Thomas... are we trying to tank for next year or are we being serious ?

Murray is not that good. He is ok.
Logan Thomas is horrible
Murray has a Ponderesque quality about him.

No thanks.

Murray made a college career of big numbers in games that didnt matter.

Last year was his best year, but he always looked bad in big games. Him and Jeff Driskel traded turnovers regularly.

If we draft a second QB in later rounds, Thomas would be nice to put on the bench to see how he grows (or not) in an NFL system.  His college system does absolutely nothing for preparing QBs for the NFL.
I like Murray. He sure as hell played better against LSU than Manziel did.

I could get behind a draft like:

1. Watkins

2. Ford

3. Murray

would love that draft
Not sure how you guys can want Murray in the early 3rd.

Agreed. If we do draft two QBs, I'd have to imagine that the second guy will be a raw-skills type who can be buried on the depth chart (or practice squad) and be groomed as eventual trade bait.

I still get the feeling that Khan was just exaggerating for effect on his "two QBs" comment. I suspect there are just too many holes to fill for the team to draft a second QB unless they want to try and grab a guy like Connor Shaw or DeNarius McGhee in the seventh round and change their positions. McGhee is, frankly, a terrible passer, but he's got jets and has a bigger build better suited to NFL running back duty than Denard Robinson does. Not as fast, though.

No way. Murray is a fourth-rounder at the very best, and if he's the "QB of the future" that the Jaguars draft, we're screwed.

Someone with a brain.

That's actually a really good comparison. He's got some skill, but he just doesn't have "it"

AND he just tore his acl

On Murray: "Murray also has improved his accuracy and ball-placement, particularly in the intermediate part of the field. In addition, it is clear Murray sees the field well. Not only is he able to make the necessary pre-snap checks and reads, but he also shows the ability work the entire field post-snap and get deep into his progressions."

Murray is a name that keeps getting linked to the Jaguars as a later-round possibility. Coach Gus Bradley was very impressed with Murray at the Senior Bowl. Though Murray was unable to play because he is still recovering from a torn ACL, he was an active participant in meetings. He took notes. He asked questions. He treated the experience as if he was going to play.

That left an impression on GM David Caldwell, too. Maybe a good enough of one that he will be a target on Day 3 for the Jaguars.
