Mike Brewster is camp fodder...

What's everyone's feelings on Zuttah if he gets released?

I had high hopes for Brewster but I'm thinking DC has his eyes on someone in the draft. Its too glaring of a need to ignore so I thought it would be addressed in some way through FA

When did Brewster fall down?
NH3

Let's view it from another perspective. How many players have we recently acquired that has played out of position? Brewster has definately played out of position at the guard spot. Remember when Meester was acquired he played out of position (guard) but excelled at his natural position. Brewster may do the same if given the opportunity to do so...
NH3...

No one is mentioning Patrick Lewis or Matt Stankiewitch.

Let's make a small investment with a mid round draft pick. Lots of good ZBS options. Brewster could have pushed meester out of his spot but never did.

I would Love to see the Jags pick up Zuttah from Tampa once released and slide to RG then sign De La Puente from the Saints to play Center
This way the draft can be used pick up the best talent available and our O-Line is very strong.

Quote:No one is mentioning Patrick Lewis or Matt Stankiewitch.i have mentioned them several diff places and none seems to understand they went out of their way to grab lewis off greenbays practice squad towards the end of the season. ppl also forget the Meester was a rookie surrounded by vet line when he started. They have to see something in lewis to pick him up.

Because he's cheap depth right now

The real question is: How many positions can he play well?
I hate when people are thought of as "versatile" because they suck equally bad at everything they do. He's not versatile. Versatile means you can do an adequate-to-good job at multiple positions....
Brewster hasn't even proven he can be relied on in one single position.

De La Puente is a good fit with us but i think we need someone like Travis Swanson out of Arkansas Tough, Nasty, Got a real attitude about him and a real passion, a real leader from the center spot, Gus and Dave would fall in love with him if they haven't already.

i think they will trial brewster and rackley along with a rookie at the centre position
as much as i detest rackley I wonder if he would be a solid centre. I remember on a number of occassions last year he got to the second level to get a solid block on a line backer and spring mjd.
either way i think we will draft a centre for a 3 man competition with one getting cut and one as back up
i think stork of fsu might be the pick. He was one of captains on bradley's superbowl team and is considered ideal for a zone blocking scheme plus he could be picked up in the 4th or 5th round
i'd like to see us pick up a guard earlier though
myself i'm a big fan of us snapping up at sau'filo as our mauler on the right in the 2nd stork in the late 4th/early 5th and perhaps looking for depth in the later rounds
a starting line of
joeckel beadles stork sau'filo pasztor
looks like a solid foundation to me

Center is a very important position. Drafting a quarterback before we have a decent center in place would be a terrible mistake and would end up like Gabbert.

I really like Marcus Martin at 6'3 320 out of USC. He played his first 2 years at guard and then the last year at center. He can play both center and right guard at the next level. Mike Mayock now has him listed as his top center prospect in the draft.
I see Brewster as solely a versatile backup to a draft pick now, with a roster spot that may be in jeopardy if they draft heavily to the OL interior (similar to how they attacked the secondary last year).

Sign some no name 3rd tier, but we already have those on our roster, or some over the hill veteran. You're in dreamland if the Jaguars can sign Mack.
