Quote:Cotton is grown here as well. I actually used to grow organically certified but I couldn't make it work with a few of my varietals. My heaviest producer also happens to be the most susceptible to disease and I was losing way too much production to make it sustainable.
often times you can introduces a new species wether it be plant or insect to your environment that will eliminate your disease problem. Lots of cool techniques you can use to benefit your heaviest crop via the use of other plants/insects.
Quote:one thing I've always wanted to study was the association between confidence and learning.. I feel like there is a big effect to be found there.

You're probably on to something, my highschool science class was much like rollerjag described. Kind of set a bad foundation to try and build on and if anything requires a solid foundation it's science. On the other hand I had a wonderful Math teacher and I think that's why I did so well in math (until calculus, that craps not math!) anyways one of my ONLY regrets is not going to college as a young man, I wish I would have the desire to learn then I do now, maybe things would be different, maybe not.

I always joke with my wife, when the kids are gone (the youngest will be 20 when I'm 48), I tell her I'm going to take as many physics classes as they'll let me the stuff just fascinates me and blows my mind all at the same time!

I Just HATE biology and anatomy!

We actually do use stuff like that for other pests like Pacific Spider Mite, but in some cases those alternatives just aren't there.

never total to go back man. Confidence is a big factor and is dont think enough teachers instill that. Plus in a lot of places thy discourage critical thinking. It's all memorize and regurgitate which is bad.

of course never to late! I'm actually in my third year of full time bachelors program for business at Daytona State. I had thought about doing an engineering degree when I went back to college 2 years ago to start my associates program but the work load was just to much. Working full time, raising 4 kids and the engineering course work was to much for me at once. So I'm sticking with the business degree and I'll use it in the Automotive Field I've worked in the last 6 years.

My big picture plan is once I'm done with the BA in business is to get my automotive certifications and take on the world with my ASE and Business degree.

Did you see that Science vs Creation debate? I thought it was interesting, can't really talk about here per COC and I'm a little bias towards one argument but thought both sides made good points.

yes I did.. Made me love bill nye more.
Science is very cool and interesting. It has so many different fields. I am mostly interested and into reading or watching anything to do with energy sources at this time.

Solar technology is consuming a good part of my down time, it's really improved over the last few years. I think we're close to a break through maybe in another decade it'll be cost effective enough to be more comely used.
