Ian Rapoport ✔ @RapSheet
Wow. After he failed his physical in Oakland, Rodger Saffold is headed back to the #Rams on a 5-year deal, per source
What the heck is going on???

This might shake up the draft

Rodger Saffold Reportedly Fails Physical with Raiders, Re-Signs with Rams

After the Rams signing Saffold and Veldheer, this almost guarantees they either take Sammy Watkins or they trade back.

Veldheer went to Arizona.

I completely agree.
Being that there are 3 Offensive Tackles that warrant very serious consideration in the top 10 of the draft, the Raiders should be able to get a high quality LT prospect with pick # 5 if they choose to go in that direction. Right now, this looks like their best option.

isnt likely to begin with but this makes it even more unlikely Clowney is there at 3.
03-12-2014, 11:45 PM
I wasn't saying that it was a bad deal for them. It was the fact that it happened to a free agent priority for them, and it was one of the reasons they let one of the tackles they had walk.....

Why would his agent agree to a five-year deal worth a lot less? How stupid does the guy have to be to do that? Sign a one-year deal with someone and go for a big payday next offseason. Don't just go running back to the Rams and take a low-ball contract fgs. Fire the guy, Saffold.

Clowney could part-time as the Pope and he still would not warrant being traded up for.

Agree, but they let Veldheer (and some other tackles on the market) go because of him.

Well, we don't know yet, if it will be for a lot less. It's also possible with his injuries history he wants to get as much grd. money as soon as possible. What if he gets injured again this season and never gets a big payday next offseason?

There's simply no other player in the draft worth trading up for.

The more I think about it... even though they could go Watkins or OL, it may make them more inclined to trade down to pick up Clinton-Dix.
Jeff Fisher is a defensive minded guy and needs an impact safety.

Greg Robinson makes a lot of sense now for the Raiders.
