Quote:This is the funny thing.

No matter what he does with this situation, he's going to get bashed. If you re-sign him it'll be that you overpaid (whoever signs him WILL overpay), if you don't re-sign him, you didn't do your job to keep a good player.

What I don't get is that he may as well overpay for a decent player at a premium position than most the trash he has overpaid for so far in his tenure

That is what I don't get. He overpays mediocre free agents and trades premium picks for the most saturated position in the NFL and for a guy he might let walk.
Colts have re-signed Vontae Davis....

Oh no Grigson sucks!@!@!#@!!!!@@@!~~~

Quote:Uh, no. Vontae was a steal.

He was DEFINITELY worth a 2nd rounder and proved it, thus him being a hot commodity.

He's worth a high pick but not decent money?

Decent money, most definitely.

Last year Revis money? No.
I hope he cost a lot!!!! Any idea on the numbers?

Yes, it was a lot. 4 years, $39M.

That is a lot.  Still cheaper than Revis though
It's the Eugene Monroe clause … If you trade a bunch of something to rent a guy, you better (buy) “resign” him when the next payment is due. Grigson done no less than Ozzie did.

When you are a GM, you get “X” (strikes) ... just like The Mad Dog does on this site. Three XXX, and you are out. What's Grigson on now? 2 XX?

The Mad Dog passed that number of strikes 7 years ago, and both Shack, and Gene got at least 10 strikes before they were out.

Newsome gave up a 4th & 5th, then gave Monroe a decent raise after playing 10ish(?) games. It's all a gamble, Grigson paid more, but got more, so far.

I would say advantage Ozzie, but I like having Davis back as well. ... Not so happy to see Bethea leave for the Niners.

Sends a message to Richardson ... If you want to sign with the Colts when it's your time ... Play better.

Hi Sammy!

What do you say the rest of the needs for the Colts are?

Mine are: Safety, center, & WR... In that order.

Yes, all of those.

Would be cool to see RW come back for at least 1 season (and play well). With "Drops" (Heyward-Bey) being a FA ...  I'm not worried that an upgrade can't be made with the same amount of money.

Center? we haven't lost anything.

Safety ... ugh! that is a sore spot. I have hope ... that is all we can do at this point.  :woot:
Sammy and Coltswarriors,

This is a legitimate question and I am not trying to get into a back and forth.  Just curious how Colts fans see the situation. How close do you think the Colts are to being Super Bowl caliber?

I ask because as a Jags fan its hard for me to know sometimes if I am being biased or accurate.  For example, I thought the Richardson trade was a bad deal, but I couldn't figure out if it was because I thought he wasn't that good in Cleveland or if I was just being a Jags fan.

That being said, I see a roster that is a solid playoff caliber, but mainly because of Luck (since Mathis and Wayne are quickly getting old, and yes, I know that Mathis was lights out last year, but he is almost my age).  I don't know if I see them as a team that is well rounded enough to compete for a title right now since Luck is still young and developing.  I do see them getting into the playoffs because of Luck and at least having a chance.

 Just wondering your perspective.  Thanks!

I'm all cool with a real question.

The answer (for/from me) is ... I have no idea, whatsoever, Man.

Because, any player can go from Hero to Zero as fast as he can go from Zero to Hero.

I don't know why, but Tim Jennings comes to mind. Fat Albert got paid, Mike Peterson got paid. It could have easily ended differently, as Peterson was the only one of the two that earned the Fat Albert money.

The Colts winning a SB is Reliant on the players desire to win a SB. ... The Seahawks weren't that dominant in talent, but the players were that dominant in winning.

Can Bradley bring that? Can Pagano bring that?

I like their odds.  Wink
Colts have a QB and with a QB, you can win a Super Bowl.

I think Colts are legitimate contenders. As long as you have the QB, you're a contender IMO.

Colts do still need to get better in certain areas (center, safety, WR).

Yup. Really like Vick Ballard and bringing Ahmad back was a great move.

Excellent work by him.
Probably the first decent FA move he's made so far in his tenure.

Ya, re-signing Reggie Wayne was terrible.

Along with re-signing Robert Mathis.

TERRIBLE!
