Quote:So out of curiosity, who here would be willing to give Michael Johnson 5 or 6 years at 10-12 mil with half of that guaranteed? Very pricey obviously, but all FA is and I do think he would be an awesome LEO.
I don't think Dave will do it but I would.
No Thank you. Him, like Griffin are good players but not great. They're are some good DE's in the draft I would much rather take a chance at.

A mid tier OLB would be a good pickup, that, I believe will be the end of our defensive push in FA. The rest should go to signing an interior offensive linemen or two. As for OLB, anyone else think La'Roy Renolds will get any better? His helmetless tackle was freakin awesome

Quote:Schofield is the name I said should be the #1 realistic option all along. Seems like an obvious fit for many reasons.
I never understood why we didn't claim him off of waivers last season, his salary was only a little over $1 million.

He doesn't quite have the speed to be a starting Sam or Will I don't think. Lotulelei would be the best in house option for one of the OLB spots.

I havnt heard the Jags name in play for any of the free agents yet. I guess we are trying to keep all of our talks on the low!

Yeah, I know what they said, but it was such a small cap number on a player I thought would fit the scheme well. Just seemed weird to me.

The Vikings just ruined it for everyone by giving a rotational guy that kind of money.....Johnson is going to get huge money because he's someone people want to grab early.....we'll have to wait for the initial rush to subside if we want to grab a Leo candidate

Lotulelei would be the best in house option for one of the OLB spots.Reynolds ran a 4.59 40 at his pro day, and had a 37" vertical jump to show explosion. He measures 6'1" 243 lbs. He has got speed and good measurable for any of the LB spots.
In comparison, Lotulelei ran a 4.78 40 at the combine, and had a 35.5" vertical. He measures 5'11 233 lbs. He plays a bit faster than his timed speed, but his measures are slightly less than Reynold's measures. I think both can play OLB, and will be a good competition in camp and preseason.

Just saw Michael Bennett is expected to sign with the bears

Still say we sign Clemons once he gets cut for the Hawks to resign Bennett. I don't think he will be nearly as expensive as some of these other LEO prospects.

Yeah, that must be it. Good call bro.

We still need 2 guards and there are other teams out there like the falcons who need guard help. Caldwell needs to strike fast.

There are not many good interior OL in free agency. I hope the Jags move quickly there. I find the pass rushers in FA just aren't that great for the money they will receive. I think a pass rusher in the draft is the better way to go.

I think they could quickly add two. From everything you read Asomoah wants to play in Atlanta, where Pioli (who drafted him) went. There are some other solid options out there. And the interior line class this draft looks weak so we need to strike early.

Asomoah is the guy I want. Good in pass protection and plays with a mean streak.
