New Jersey teen sues parents for financial support, claims she was 'kicked out' of home
A New Jersey honor student is suing her parents in a potentially precedent-setting lawsuit for financial support and to force them to pay for college.
Rachel Canning, 18, of Morris Catholic High School, claims her parents threw her out of their Lincoln Park home two days before her 18th birthday in late October, although her parents insist she moved voluntarily. Both parties are scheduled to appear before a judge in Morristown on Tuesday.

I was wondering how soon you would find this one and post it.
While there is her story anf her parents story, I am sure the truth lies somewhere in there.
Would love to know the backstory, nah probably don't want to know.
HeadSlap
These pesky teenagers today, with all of their new fancy gadgets and widgets.. they care about nobody but themselves!
Did I do it right?
Sounds like she didn't like following rules (who knows if they were fair or not) and decided to head to greener pastures.
Guess they werent so green.
Forcing them to pay for her college? Good luck with that one...

shocking....a young person would stick up (albeit indirectly) for this piece of trash in the OP.
Every claim I have made regardling the younger generation is proven with this poor excuse of a daughter.

When did I stick up for anybody?

with your snarky comment. Given it was made in this thread in the context you made it in, at least suggests/ infers that you don't disagree with her conduct.

Nothing that I said means that I don't disagree with her conduct. She's an idiot. A moron.
Just because I don't agree that the younger generation is a mess-up because you hear about more things now than in the past, it doesn't mean I think wrong behavior is ok.
Sounds to me like it's the adults that are advising the teen wrongly. The dad said he's still willing to pay for her college tuition. The school advised her to move out, and the friend who she's now living with's father is advising for the lawsuit. Sounds to me like all of this could be settled by having the father and daughter talk it out. But someone (the friend's father) is trying to make money off of it himself.
This isn't a "OMG Young generation sucks!" this is an "OMG older generation sucks!"
Non-issue, just some random kid making a fool of themselves, won't be the last certainly isn't the first.
As my nana would say "some kids just need they behind whooped"

You don't say...
But but kids are just so much worse these days.
Judge rejects financial support requests by New Jersey teen suing parents
A New Jersey honor student suing her parents in a potentially precedent-setting lawsuit had her motions for financial support, including high school tuition payment, denied Tuesday by a judge who said it would set a bad precedent by setting limits on parenting.
Rachel Canning, 18, of Morris Catholic High School, was denied her requests for child support of $654 a week as well as thousands of dollars in attorney fees and immediate reimbursement of her high school tuition.

She is 18!
She definitely got some very bad advice and can't believe the father of her friend would get in the middle of this and then try and charge the parents for attorney fees.
Sounded pretty silly to me too. Sounds like she needs a bit of a reality check too -- $700 a week?
Little brat doesn't want to live at home and follow rules but still wants her parents to support her! $700 a week! People with several children don't get that much in child support a month, much less per week!!

I'm not really even understanding what her argument is. The only thing I can possibly see as valid is paying the last semester of her High School tuition.
In addition, she's asking for money for college and like a living stipend. On the basis they kicked her out two days before she turned 18? Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see how any adults even took this seriously.
