It was a little difficult following that guy's mode of statistics-building, but I think I understood what he was getting at.

On ESPN's website, they have all the QBs ranked under an official 'QBR' scale(Total Quarterback Rating). Which values the QB on all play-types on a 0-100 scale, adjusted for the strength of opposing defenses faced.

(Mariota and Winston were #1 and #2 in 2014 with 89.5 and 88.5 respectively).

This is how the remaining Draft-Prospect this year ranked out of the top 50 QBS on the ESPN total QBR scale
3rd-Johnny Manziel: 86.3 QBR
4th-Arron Murray: 86.1 QBR
6th-Zach Mettenberger: 85.1 QBR
11th-AJ McCarron: 82.7 QBR
14th-Teddy Bridgewater: 80.9 QBR
15th-Connor Shaw: 80.0 QBR
17th-Tajh Boyd: 79.5 QBR
19th-Blake Bortles: 78.9 QBR
20th-Derek Carr: 76.3 QBR
26th-Stephen Morris: 73.7 QBR
33rd-David Fales: 71.3 QBR
I want us to draft Murray as our 2nd QB selected this draft.

Can I ask why?

According to the chart, he's in the bottom half of most stats.

Because by the 5th or 6th round, (where I want us to take him) I think he'll be the best available QB, and I think he's pretty good per the footage I have seen of him. He is a downfield guy. I like that. I think he'll need some work, but thats why I have him as the 2nd QB taken by us. He can develop like Rodgers did, as an understudy.

DOWNFIELD GUY?!?

TMD, you have this one wrong. I am a tried and true Georgia fan, Murray is not, I repeat, NOT a deep thrower. He had had a few deep balls throughout his career, but mainly due to defensive backs getting burned by some fast receivers.

That being said, I think Murray will have a long career as a backup, and will have a shot to start here and there. I could even see him causing a team to trade for him like the Bills did for Rob Johnson.

Actually Murray is amongst the top 5 in this draft for QB that complete/ attempt passes of over 10 yards, IIRC. His YPA is accordingly high, too.

Are you judging this guy too harshly?

His highlight reels are filled with intermediate & deep completions.

As a die hard Georgia fan myself, I have to agree with The BigDawg.  Murray had a habit of missing the deep throws and seemed to come up short more often than not in big games at Crunch time.     Completely agree with his last two sentences.

As a SECOND QB taken, I don't see what the big deal is.

He also hit a lot of intermediate/ deeper throws. He's more of the gunslinger type. He's not a wimpy checkdown Charlie game manager, I like that. I think Murray would be a great developmental QB to have behind the first QB we draft.

My enduring memory of him as a college player is that he often looked completely inept against the Gators, and it's not like the Gators have exactly been tearing it up.
Teddy Brigewater is the top of almost all of those charts, I want that guy

And I agree with those guys about Murray he is not a down field guy, looking at avg ypa does not judge down field passes, he could throw it short and the WR goes for extra yards. And Oklahomie your right until this year Murray had not beat a ranked team, and stunk up the joint in those games, I would pass on him, I rather draft our future guy, sign a vet rather its Henne or another guy, and go with Gabbert and Matt Scott battle for the last QB spot. Why waste a pick on another QB this year who will never play? when we can load up on Defensive and Offensive linemen RB,WR, DB all these guys will get on the field. I'm all for going for another QB in next years draft in the mid rounds, dont like drafting 2 QBs in the same draft.

MadDog is from the north and never seen him play and is just going off stats and highlights, most of us live in SEC country and know Murray is not a very good pro prospect

I saw Murray throw (and complete it) downfield a ton on his highlight reels. His high YPA is not the case of screen/ short passes and YAC.

Admittedly, I haven't watched a lot of Georgia in actual games this past season and am going by what I am seeing on those highlight reels, but its not like those reels are fake or something. He made those plays and there is a LOT of downfield passing by Murray on them.

And again...I'm repping Murray as a SECOND QB taken by us, as in a DEVELOPMENTAL QBprospect - not ---THE--- guy. So I really don't get the belly aching. Murray in the 5th or 6th round will be better than any other QB you are going to get at that point for that plan.

I've seen a few Georgia games (the wife) and I liked Murray, but I'm sure I haven't seen as much as hardcore UGA fans.  I thought he might be a decent pro.

At worst, he would be far from a bad gamble as a developmental (2nd QB selected by us in later rounds) prospect.

Ew
If we select a development qb, I want Logan Thomas. Go for broke.
