Full Version: Draft day trade that would make the most sense for the Jags

Lets say the draft fell like this

1. Houston - Brotles

2. Rams - Robinson

3. ATL - Clowney ( Jaguars trade with Atl, Caldwell helps his guy Dimitrof get his guy, Jaguars get 2nd round 37th pick and 4th round 99th pick)

4. Browns - Watkins

5. Raiders - Manzial

6. Jaguars - Bridgewater

<span style="font-size:14px;">In this situation its a win win for the Jaguars, you end up with 6 picks in the top 100 and you still get a top QB, even if the Browns and Raiders take a QB, you still get Khalil Mack at 6 and in 2nd round you can pick somebody like <span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana, arial, 'sans serif';text-align:justify;">Jimmy Garoppolo with one of your 2nd round picks </span></span>

That would be pretty awesome tbh.  Though I think Oakland would take Teddy over Manziel.  And I don't see the Browns taking Watkins.

Yea you can pretty much flip all the QBs and we still end up with one of the top 3 depending on if the Browns dont go QB and if they do we still get Mack and a bunch of picks
If it fell like that I'd be pleased...

But 2 things....

I think the Jags need to get more of a return than just the 2nd + 4th, and also - I doubt Bridgewater is still there at 6 in your scenario. I think Bortles/ Teddy/ Manziel are all gone by 6.

I had something similar here...... but it is in the "Shocking" trade scenario thread.http://jungle.jaguars.com/index.php?/top...scenarios/

I like that Idea as well, and I added another trade in my trade package. We end up with three second round picks in 2014. Looks like this.......

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Atlanta trades their #6, #37, and next years 2nd and 5th for the Jags #3 and select Clowney.

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">St. Louis Trades #13 ans #44 and next years 2nd and 5th for Jags #6 and select Watkins.

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">1- Houston - Bortles QB

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">2- St. Louis - Robinson OT

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">3- Atlanta - Clowney DE

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">4- Cleveland - Manziel QB

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">5- Oakland - Bridgewater QB

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">6- St. Louis - Watkins WR

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">7- Tampa - Khalil Mack LB

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">8- Minnesota - D Carr QB

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">9- Buffalo - Eric Ebron TE

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">10- Detroit - Darqueze Dennard CB

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">11- Tenn. - Jake Matthews OT

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">12- NY Giants - Taylor Lewan OT

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">13- Jacksonville - Anthony Barr DE/LB

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Jacksonville (Pre-FA)

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">1- Anthony Barr DE/LB

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">2 A - (#37)  Jace Amaro TE

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">2 B -  (#39) Stephon Tuitt DT/DE

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">2 C - (#44) AJ McCarron QB

Why draft a career backup qb with the second pick?
I'd take McCarron as the 2nd QB we draft in this upcoming draft, but wouldn't want him as ---THE-- QB we draft this year.

I still would love to see us get another 2nd round pick, But i keep thinking about how much we are hoping the falcons trade with us and i just dont see it happening. But I would be totally fine with this playing out. The second trade down with the rams I'm not as big of a fan because I'm not big on Barr over all. But 3 2nd round picks would be nice.

Trades would leave us stacked two drafts in a row, definitely couldn't complain about that.
I'd love this if we traded down and still got Bridgewater.

I wouldn't risk missing out on. Qb I liked.
This scenerio is certainly possible if Clowney is not taken by the 3rd pick. I would love to see it happen since Bridgewater would be my

first choice for the Jags anyway and they get an extra 2nd and 4th. No doubt Clowney can be a beast, but there are enough questions about his motivation that I'd be a little scared to take him anyway.

The Jags could end up with a boatload of starters if they draft smartly. How about this as a possibility:

Free agency: Jarius Byrd, Evan Dietrich-Smith, Clinton McDonald and a moderately priced interior lineman.

Re-sign Will Blackmon, Clay Harbour and Henne

Draft: Rd. 1  Bridgewater

                 1 Dee Ford ( move back into the end of first and give up 2nd and lowest 4th rounder)

                 2 Yankey or Su'a-Fila

                 3 Christian Jones

                 4 Best available R.B. (Seastrunk, Sims, White, A. Williams)

                 4 Keith McGill

                 4 Abbrederis or next best W.R. (via trade for two 5th's)

                 5 A.C. Leonard (or best available T.E. - Gilmore, etc.)

                 6 Aaron Colvin ( falls due to injury)

                 7 Best available special teams player

I would kill for a scenerio like this and it is quite possible if Clowney falls to pick 3.

We wouldnt care about helping the Falcons they are in the NFC, i'm also not a fan of the other trade to 13 I dont want to miss out on the elite talent in this draft just for a few extra picks having 12 picks are plenty.

That trade makes no sense at all. If you want to get Bridgewater pick him at 3.

Its a bit of a stretch but if Caldwell is even on Bridgewater Mack and Manziel it makes alot of sense

Bortles and Robinson gone you know the falcons would take clowney that leaves you to get one of those three regardless of who Oakland or Cleveland pick

Add to that you get a high second which gives you more leverage to jump back into the first or snap up a faling first rounder

If you feel like Bridgewater is your franchise QB you take him @ 3...by not taking him @ 3 you don't feel that he is that so the pick would most likely be Mack in the above scenario.
Quote:That trade makes no sense at all. If you want to get Bridgewater pick him at 3.
The point of the trade wasnt that Bridgewater is your guy, otherwise you wouldnt risk losing him, the point was you have 3 guys you would love, and one is gonna be there at 6, you get one plus 2 extra picks in the top 100.
If a QB is there and you think he could be your guy, you take him. Too risky to trade down.

If Teddy is our target and he's available at 3, I don't see a scenario where they trade down with the idea of getting him a couple spots later.  Don't risk it.  Just take him at 3 if he's there.
