I know most talk is about who we will take at #3 overall, but this year could also be the time we make a huge trade with a playoff team and accumulate picks for our future. I think the biggest moves will come if either Clowney or Watkins are available when we pick.

My shocker trade would be with the Patriots. I know they pick #29 overall and everyone thinks they will be looking for another top TE for their offense, but the fact is the Patriots haven't had a true #1 WR since Moss...

I know the Patriots usually stock pile picks and trade out of the first round, but now is the time to really give Tom the weapon he needs on the outside before his window completely closes (it has already started to close). A receiver of Sammy Watkins caliber would probably instantly make them favorites in the AFC. They have tried the last few years to get by with smaller guys who can do the quick timing routes and are tough. But Sammy would give them that and also be a legit deep threat on the outside.

I am not saying the Patriots would break the bank. But I could definitely see them swapping first round picks with, and then we also get their 2nd and 4th round picks this year as well as their 1st  round pick next year.

So they get #3 pick - Sammy Watkins

We get #29 pick along with 2nd and 4th round pick this year, and a 1st round pick next year.

What are some other shocking trade scenarios?

I hope we wouldn't take that trade.

Its pretty much the same as the Julio Jones trade...

Not really.  Atlanta moved up 20 spots.  New England would be moving up 26 spots.  Atlanta was also a team that wasn't necessarily ready for a Super Bowl run.  The Patriots on the other hand are a strong team in a weak division.  Playoffs are pretty much guaranteed barring major injury.  They ended up with the 22nd pick the next year.  I don't think the Patriots will wind up picking that low in 2015.  Not to mention that no matter who goes 1 and 2 some really good players will be available at 3.  Just doesn't seem worth it to me.

Patriots goal isn't the playoffs....its a championship. I realize it's more spots to move, but its all about who we pick at that spot not where we pick.

Where we pick contributes to who we pick.

And my point about the Patriots making the playoffs is in regards to where that 1st rounder will be next year.  With Watkins, I doubt that they'll be picking in the low 20's like the Falcons were.

My point about WHO we pick, was regarding that there are more starting players from other rounds than the first round. Its all about who you pick not where you pick. And if this staff is as good as I think they will be they probably most make many mistakes on who, but if our main plan is to build through the draft then having 3-4 extra picks is a nice start.

The Jags would need to get more in compensation than that.
Horrible trade for both teams, we lose out on top prospects to drop that far back, the Pats trade way up for a WR that isnt a once in a generation type WR like a Moss, Fitzgerald, Megatron.

The WR class is so deep the Pats can stay at 29 and get a guy who will prob end up better then Watkins, or trade that pick for Larry Fitzgerald

I see it highly unlikely the Patriots would trade up that far for a WR in a draft class that is supposed to be so deep at WR.  If they did I would want a lot more compensation than that.

Trade wouldn't make sense for either side. This draft is loaded with WRs, the Pats will find a good one up to round 4. Brady has shown he doesn't need top level WRs to be MVP .

The Jaguars lose a chance at an elite playmaker for chances at 2 good starters and 2 hopeful starters .
I could see the Browns selecting Manziel with their first 1st round pick and then using the other to move back into the top ten to try and snag Watkins or Evans. Yes this class is really deep WR wise, but Cleveland..and i'm just trying to contribute, c'mon, it's the deep period right now. I'm bored

Enough picks to move anywhere we want in 2015.
I'd want more then what we traded to Baltimore in 2008 to draft Derrick Harvey. We traded 2 3rd rd picks and are 4th rd pick.

Nice work!
Only take that trade if Brady retires.

That would be an absolutely horrible trade. The Jaguars aren't getting nearly enough from the Pats, and they'd be going from 3 to 29 in a year when they really, really need the third overall pick to be a talented, immediate starter. That doesn't happen nearly as often at 29.

That's a Grigson trade right there.
Just wondering, would you trade #3 for #16, #80 and Romo?

Quote:Just wondering, would you trade #3 for #16, #80 and Romo?

,,,where'd that one come from?
You've got to have a foundation before you can start building. That's not rocket science. Sitting at #3 gives them a chance to select that building block in either Bridgewater, Clowney, Manziel or Bortles. Not the year to trade. iMO
