Full Version: Reports saying Browns don't want Manziel as much as previously thought...no fear of trade-up?

For some in Jacksonville who want Manziel as the Jaguars QB, the only thing standing in their way was the dreaded Texans, with the first pick in the draft and more importantly the first chance(if they wanted it) at Johnny. But with rumors heating up a few weeks ago of the Browns REALLY liking Manziel, thoughts were that they could/would likely to tradeup to that number 2 spot with the RAms, and effectively jump the Jaguars at 3. Putting both the Texans and QB-needy Browns ahead of us. Perhaps not anymore though.

The latest reports have been saying that much of the Browns-Johnny talk has been a 'smokescreen', and Cleveland actually really wants Derek Carr.

But of course, who knows if these latest 'reports' are not just another smokescreen.

Anyhoo, as it is, apparently the Browns are keen on Carr more than any other top QB, and if Texans do end up going with Clowney like many are starting to think, that may mean Jaguars at #3 will truly have the pick of the litter. With Bortles, Bridgewater, and MAnziel all there for the taking. Which is really the best case scenario in the end.

Everything we hear for the next 2 and a half months will be a smokescreen. Some of you guys eat this stuff up hook, line and sinker. It's fascinating.

Agreed. Just something to talk about I guess

Like the others said, I don't believe anything anyone is saying before the draft.

It sure would be nice if the Brownies wasted another high draft pick on a dead end player like Carr, though. I love it when teams take surefire busts and push good players down the board to us.
Sounds like something the browns will do

They want Derek Carr?  Haha... Poor Browns fans.

I actually heard they wanted Bortles..

I didn't believe it when we actually drafted a punter.
Would rather them trade up for Him so WR could get Clowney or Bridgewater
I get that Farmer is the new kid at the wheel for Cleveland, but why should anyone care what Cleveland thinks? They hit on Haden and Thomas. That's all that comes to mind. They have a history of bungling their picks. Teams would be better served doing the opposite of whatever Cleveland thinks they should do.
