Manziel tops the list.  All the GM's know Manziel is a great QB, the only question was off the field concerns and how he would do in his interviews.  If he passed the interviews with flying colors it would be bad for us because the Texans might just take JFF.  It would then come down to Clowney and Mack.  Clowney's interview was also very important.  But with Clowney's questionable work ethic Mack might just be our guy.  All really depends if Gus thinks Clowney is a hard worker and if not if he thinks he can fix him.

I have some questions....

 

What is the problem with Clowney's work ethic? I mean I hear people say he has questionable work ethic, but what specifically is questionable?

 

Does he not show up to practice? Does he leave practice early? Is he not prepared mentally for games? ETC.

 

Can you be specific about what exactly is questionable?

Eh Landry and a couple of the RBs ran slower than expected. But at the same time did well in the field drills I wouldn't call them losers

I think it was just some comments that Spurrier made.  Im not concerned.  Gus is also a great motivator so I dont think it would be a problem.

See thats my point. People (I believe teams not picking in the top 3) have taken those words and twisted them to make it seem like he has questionable work ethic.

 

All Spurrier actually said regarding his work ethic was "“He was OK. It wasn’t like Marcus Lattimore, you know, every player is a little different,” Spurrier said. “His work habits are pretty good, they’re not quite like Lattimore, maybe Stephon Gilmore, Melvin Ingram, some of those guys, but when the ball is snapped he’s got something no one else has.”

 

So basically because he doesn't put in as much work as those 3 guys..... now he has questionable work ethic just because he is not a GYM RAT or a 1st one in last one out type of guy....

 

If he shows up on time to practice, works through practice, watches his tape, learns from the tape, and then shows up and executes to the best of his ability during game time. What about that is questionable?

 

 

PS. I am not saying you specifically are saying that. I am just tired of having this presented as actual proof that he doesn't work hard at his craft.

From the same article, this was an interesting blurb about Dominique Easley:

 

"Florida DT Dominique Easley — The combine’s biggest value is for teams to investigate players’ character and medical statuses, and Easley might not be in great shape with either. Easley was described as “distracted” and “immature” by one team, and his discussion with the media that he preferred watching cartoons to football might back that up. Also, he’s coming off his second torn ACL in two years and has not decided when he can work out in April for scouts while he rehabs."

 

The current regime is very big on attitude, love of the game, enthusiasm, etc.   I can already see a lot of guys getting downgraded.

I read that when Manziel interviewed with the Jaguars, he entered the room, everyone stood up, and he went around the room and addressed each person by name, nice to meet you, all that, starting with Shad Khan, Tony Khan, Dave Caldwell, Gus Bradley, and Jedd Fisch.   He was very well prepared, and he knew everyone's name without being introduced, or ever having met them before.

One guy that I was hoping the Jags would grab in round 3/4 might have moved himself into a 2nd round pick.

 

Donte Moncrief - WR - Ole Miss

 

He measured in @ 6'2" 221lbs

 

Ran a 4.40 40yd dash / 39.5" Vertical / 132 Broad" which were top 3 in the WR group (He beat Watkins #s in all except Bench Press and 3 Cone)

 

He showed a slight case of the drops this season but with the performance he had it hard to not list him as a winner.

Good, because if he's drafted by the Jaguars he can do his own pass blocking.  50 sacks are gonna hurt. 

I was a little surprised that Teddy was being tagged with similarities to Geno Smith. Oh wait.. they're both black. Nevermind.

I don't want any more WRs who don't have great hands.   I am tired of dropped passes.

Well, of course I am serious.

 

You know nothing about Jake Matthews. If you did, you would have no problems understanding why he should be drafted by us if he is still there at three.

 

Jake is an elite offensive lineman. He not only plays left tackle, but right tackle, left guard, right guard, and centers as well. He instantly provides us with superior pass protection, as well as exceptional run-blocking. Jake is Pro Bowl-elite quality offensive lineman right out of the box.

 

He is the former Texas A&M team mate of Jaguars' current elite, franchise left tackle, Luke Joeckel, who is still attempting to come back from major ankle injury. He is regarded as the top college football player in America, much the same as Joeckel was last draft.

 

Our greatest need is offensive line. Jake is a great player with a noble NFL family crest. Jake has earned every ounce of respect we can muster.

 

Drafting him might not be possible, but if he's available at three there's no need to question his ability nor his selection. He is an elite, franchise offensive lineman. Where he lines up doesn't matter. We're drafting him as elite talent at a variety of offensive line spots.

 

Fifty sacks in 2012. Fifty sacks in 2013. Offensive line is our weakest unit.

If he's picked by the Jaguars, he'll be called "the next Leftwich".

Jungle Cat what part of a better QB makes the o-line better do you not understand. QB is far and away the weakest link on this team. Joeckel returns and even Pasztor has played well. We can wait until the middle rounds to address this issue.

Dude he just doesn't understand. At least we understand and so does Dave and Gus. QB is obviously our biggest need.

I don't know how many of you are Gator fans, but if you have ever watched Easley play, you know that none of the above is a concern for him.  Not only was he a complete monster on the line with possibly the quickest first step I have ever seen a tackle have, he was also constantly dancing in between plays and seemed to be having more fun than anyone else on the field.  He is a wacky character with a very different personality though.  He used to bring a Chucky doll with him to every game and carry it on the Gator walk before the games with him, when he found out he was out for the rest of the year he passed the Chicky doll on to Dante Fowler.  He seemed to be loved by his teammates and things like the Chucky doll and dancing between downs makes think enthusiasm, love of the game, and attitude are no problem for him.  He has always been...odd to say the least in his interviews so this doesn't surprise me.  However, if he stays healthy, whatever team gets him is getting an elite, top ten pick level talent and I hope its us.
