He doesnt get much play on here so I see this thread falling off page 1 quickly however I have to give some love to a fellow Vandy Commodore!

 

Ran a 4.46 today in the 40.  One of his biggest knocks is his lack of speed.  Hopefully that will help him out.  Probably solidified his 2nd round status.  

 

Guy has been a great player for us.  Always seems to come up with big catches in traffic in key situations.  Only real knock I'd have on him is a lack of short area quickness.  But as a bigger guy thats not really a concern.  And occasionally he'll drop a gimme pass but then will come back on the next play and make a spectacular grab.  

 

I dunno, I've watched Vandy play a ton and I think his short area quickness is better than his functional deep speed. He gets pretty decent separation in the short/intermediate game (especially when it comes to beating a jam), but he seems to always be blanketed if the route is like 15 yards or farther downfield. Love his character and work ethic too, obviously. Him and Carr being the only two players that worked after practice every day during the SR bowl got some bonus points.

 

Overall, solid 2nd round prospect I agree...but hopefully not a Jag because I don't think WR is a luxury we can afford until day 3, unless someone shockingly drops like him, Robinson, Adams, or Moncrief in round 3. 

Would rather have Donte Moncrief in the 3rd then Matthews in the 2nd/3rd

4.46 seems about right for Matthews. I think he's a good all around guy 3rd round or later is where I take him...but a team may snatch him up in the 2nd which is fine I believe there are quite a few receivers that'll be available in the mid rounds that can play big parts in our offense.
