Yes Mack over Clowney

Thank God you aren't a GM.

Ha showing your pea brain off again?

Actually it is not a bad idea. We need a better outside linebacker who can rush the passer.

?  you need to quit letting Mayock make your decisions for you

It is not just Mayock. Watch the film. Clowney's bad practice habits show up during games.

Mayock brought him, I watched a couple of his games

The guy is legit
Quote:Trade down, stack picks in the first 5 rounds. Plenty of starters are available and this roster needs plenty of guys. Guys like Gratz, Sanders and Shorts are the benchmark of what we can get in the mid rounds.

The problem with most fans is we think that we need an "Elite QB" to win. We don't. Look at the last few Superbowls...

Wilson - Not Elite

Peyton - Elite

Kaep - Not Elite

Flacco - Not Elite

Eli - Not Elite

Brady - Elite

Elite or not it doesn't matter, you need to build a team to win and to do this you either need incredible luck or you need plenty of draft picks and plenty of cheapish FA's. Sure having a guy like Brady or Manning or Rodgers helps but these guys don't grow on tree's and we don't need one of them.

I've said it elsewhere but getting 10 picks in the first 5 rounds would be awesome. Mayock said this years top 20 is like last years top 10 so trade down to the teens, grab some extra picks for it and we'll still be getting a top level player.

Flacco and Elite may not be elite consistantly. But that played at above an elite level for their 4 game playoff run. So your point doesnt really make sense. You need elite QB play in the playoffs. Wilson is borderline, he makes special plays average QBs cant.
I voted for Bortles, because I think he will be the top ranked QB when it is all said and done. Houston will probably take him if they keep the first pick and target a QB.

Now if the question had been who would the Jags take if Bortles and Clowney are both gone, the decision would be harder. I'm not convinced on Bridgewater, and I'm not sure Caldwell is either for some reason. We need pass rush in a BIG way, and we need some explosiveness on offense. For me, that would narrow it down to Mack and Watkins. So it would depend on what we addressed in free agency. If we addressed neither, Caldwell has to go with the higher rated guy of the two on his board, which will probably be Mack by draft day.

I'd love to have Watkins, but some how I don't feel he is going to make as much impact in the NFL as Mack.
Been watching some tape of Mack. Essentially the only guy worth talking about on their defense. Has upper echelon though not elite size and athleticism. Plays with relentless motor and is extremely physical, violent even. Great pursuit angles. Excellent power against tackles. Great instincts, though not polished as I had thought before.

Honestly, he reminds me of Cyp when I was watching videos of him last year pre draft in terms of style of player. I think he comps to a faster, better in coverage, possibly better overall Suggs at the next level. I like him. He's my pick at three if they don't think there's a franchise QB.

How do you know what his practice habits are? Did Spurrier give you access to South Carolina practices?

Jadeveon Clowney publicly admitted he is a a slacker in practice.

Oh no. The first person to not go 100% in practice all the time.

If there's a QB they want, then he's as good as ours.  Not sure how they feel about Bortles or Manziel, but Mack is a stud.  I also would be fine trading back and grabbing Donald.  He could replace Alualu and greatly improve our D-line.

Carson Palmer was an ELITE franchise QB until he blew his knee. I think a lot of people forget just how good he was, thanks to how he's looked in his later Bengal years, and in Oakland and AZ.
