Gerhart, I also think Blackmon will be looking to prove himself

I'm predicting the opposite. If we draft Clowney I'm predicting Derrick Harvey part deux. I bet he even starts driving the same stupid gaudy SUV that Harvey had.

Quote:He still had the quickness to get to the QB and exploit that hole. I don't care if they run stunts or whatever as long as he is getting sacks. Branch made huge strides from year one so give him some credit. You act like exploiting a hole and having the quickness to take down the QB is an easy thing. Ask MIncey or any other DE we have had in the past couple of years and they will tell you different.I did not like the Branch signing right from the beginning. He never really showed the ability to get to the passer when he had a quality lineman to beat. It takes time for a DE to develop so I'm not ready to cut him, but I'm on the fence with re guard to him becoming a effective pass rusher. As for the speed to get to the passer when there is a hole to run through that's no way to evaluate a pass rusher. I want a guy that when the game is on the line and you have to beat a good NFL tackle, you can count on your player to get pressure to disrupt the quarterbacks rhythm and move him out of the pocket or get the sack. Branch has not shown the ability to do either consistently.

I think Gerhart will struggle with a brand new offensive line, which may contain as many as 2 rookies, in front of him.
My breakout player is Jonathan Cyprien. An improved defensive line will lead to a lot more opportunities in the defensive backfield.

Guess I'll stick this here:
@vitostellino: Gus Bradley says Denard Robinson is up to 212 from 197..says Robinson asked after game 1 last year, "what can I do?''

I will start with Chad Henne. He is not a Franchise QB but with some of the O-line changes we have made and him opening up the season as the starting QB, I think he could go over 3000 yrd again this season. Justin Blackmon needs to get himself together off the field, because on the field (taking off the teal and Gold googles) honestly i dont think ANY defensive back can guard him.. not even Sherman... and last, I think Marcedes Lewis if he mans up and they throw to him at least 8 times per game i think he could make the pro bowl again

Also saw on twitter Uche said he thinks Denard will be a pro bowl RB if he gets his fumbling problem fixed. Ive got a hunch that Gerhart wont be very happy at the end of this season. They will make a good combo though.

D Rob - If he didn't have hands problems he would have been the starter last year.
Reynolds - I don't know why he isn't already a starter.
Cyprien - He was looking a LOT better towards the end of the year, with the improved D line and more exp he will be a force.
In fact, the entire defensive backfield will look incredibly better after getting an improved D line, specifically Clemons. People will have to actually get rid of the ball now and it will make a night and day level difference to our defense.
