Every year during the NFL Scouting Combine, ideas for rule changes are proposed and considered by the Competition Committee. The first one being discussed now is, as expected, what do with the nearly automatic PAT. Good news: Now they are talking about making it longer.

Actually what they need to do is standardize DPI and take judgment out of it, which would make it reviewable.

I agree with this and thing this change is long past due.
They should do away with both overtime and ties. If the game ends in a tie, the team that scored last gets an extra point.

What they need to do is not make teams try PATs or TPCs after time expires on the game clock. That would help reduce the number of overtimes.
