Johnny Manziel might be at a slight disadvantage without the "phantom inch" on TAMU's roster, but he certainly has a good point about Russell Wilson.

For anyone too lazy to read the whole article, this is why he thinks being very mobile and six feet even will not be a problem for him:
Quote:"You're seeing more guys being successful avoiding that first wave of pressure -- get out and do things outside the pocket."
Manziel identified speedy Jadeveon Clowney, who will enter the league as the draft's most highly-regarded defensive prospect, as the type of player who will, in time, require NFL offenses to be more mobile at the quarterback position.
"Wilson does some things he's not asked to do, when things don't go exactly as scripted. He's able to extend the play," Manziel said.
His critics might talk all the time about his size and playing style being a bad combination for medical reasons but what I see here is a guy saying he is more likely to get a first down than a pocket passer like Teddy Bridgewater because of his ability to extend the play. The part about Clowney gave me another idea: Mobility can help players stay healthy sometimes because it means taking fewer sacks and knockdowns. But is he helping himself by saying he is only one inch taller than 5-11 Wilson?
Midget gonna get creamed.
Garrard was so mobile he was gonna take fewer sacks....how'd that work out?
Give me the pocket passer that can read a defense. Johnny ego struggled with his college playbook...one read and run isn't gonna get it done at the next level.

Got a link to him struggling with his playbook?

I do notice that, numerous people pointed out the missed reads and route concepts
Did not have complete grasp of his playbook, that is for sure
Playbook?????? Johnny Superhuman don't need no playbook.

I guess the Texas A & M playbook was out for public consumption and I missed it or something? Tell me, those of you who read it, why do you think the coaches at A & M were so obstinate about putting in "Scramble" into the playbook? I mean, they had a once in a lifetime type of college QB talent on their hands. Seems kind of crazy that they wouldn't want to take advantage of his scrambling abilities.
They often say that running QBs will actually take more sacks than many of the immobile QBs. Although I guess where a running QB will attempt to scramble but then get taken down for a sack, an immobile QB will end up just throwing the ball away. So do you want a guy who takes the yardage loss or just deflates his completion percentage? And whatever benefit you get from the scrambler who is able to make a play, does that outweigh the negative's from the extra sacks?
I guess the "cool" thing to do now is completely make stuff up.
Pro style pocket passers win Super Bowls. Russell Wilson winning a Super Bowl was a anomaly. The Seahwaks D was the main reason they won it all.

Johnny Manziel was saying mobility is what allowed Russell Wilson to extend plays when they break down. That means he did not have to throw the ball away too much.

Russell Wilson was an exception because most NFL quarterbacks are just pocket passers. Do you know for a fact that even if the NFL had a lot of dual threat quarterbacks only immobile passers such as Peyton Manning could win Supier Bowls?
I just read the Texas A&M playbook and can confirm that it is all running plays and all his passing yards were by accident.

Tell me, was it
really written in Crayon?
Manziel's height is not my biggest concern with him, its the fact hat he likes to run around and then just chuck it up for grabs. Those antics wont work in the NFL.

I assume you mean height is
not your biggest concern.
That can be coached out of him when he learns a pro style offense.

Wilson is a much more accomplishe dpocket passer than he gets credit for.
Seriously, JW, we need to revive your "Does Size Matter" thread.

I thought everybody was done talking about it after the 19th page.
I revived the one about Seattle's win affecting draft picks.
