Wanted to discuss LEO's specifically..  I feel that this position may be addressed as early as #3 overall (if Clowney falls to us) and may be addressed more than once.

The LEO does not necessarily have to be "undersized" - but he does need to be athletic and have good pass rushing ability.

I've been searching for potential candidates.  Many have a lot of upside, but also a looot of question marks.

Ultimately, I think Andre Branch will have a huge role next year for us, but it's an almost certainty we will draft at least one LEO to take Babin's spot.

What do you think?  Who do you think we draft?  Who do you hope we draft?  Anyone in particular that you don't want on this team?  Discuss.

1.  Jadaveon Clowney 6'5", 265 - South Carolina.  Top 5 pick - Could be our pick if he falls to 3.

2.  Kony Ealy 6'5, 270 - Missouri - First rounder - Don't see us having a chance at him because of where he is projected to go, and I don't see us trading up into the 1st for him.

3. Dee Ford 6'2", 243 - Auburn 1st/2nd rounder - Real possibily he's our guy if he lasts to 39

4. Scott Crichton 6'3", 265- Oregon State - 2nd rounder - Don't know much about him as I have not seen a lot of Oregon State games, but it appears that he has the physical traits you want, but that he needs a lot of refinement.  Makes me think of Andre Branch because it also took him forever to become a contributor.

5. Jackson Jeffcoat - 6'4", 250 - Texas.  2nd rounder.  Could be another possibility for us, especialy if we manufacture another mid-to-late 2nd rounder

6. DeMarcus Lawrence - 6'3", 245 - Boise st.  Could go as high as 2nd or as low as 4th according to most mocks.  Has great athleticism and could be a nice fit.

Please add any lower rounders if you have any info on them.

My favorite scenario would be that Dee Ford drops to 39 or that we just draft Clowney anyway.

If you only want to talk about Leos, why do you mention Clowney? Someone who likes Anthony Barr said Clowney is strictly a 4-3 DE and would be a terrible Leo. Also he is 6-6 FYI.

Trading up into the first round is stupid. Even if we trade with the Seahawks that would be moving up 8 spots. We can't move up that far with only a fourth round pick and our second round pick. To move up 6 spots for Blaine Gabbert, Gene Smith had to give the Redskins our second round pick. The third round pick is too valuable to lose. But if the Redskins, Browns, or Raiders are happy with only a fourth round pick, I would absolutely love trading it to them in the second round.

One more thing: Anyone who has been roaming this forum since the regular season ended knows we are #39, not #37, in Round 2.
I don't see Ealy, Jeffcoat or Crichton as fits for the Leo spot, Ealy specifically.

You have Marcus Smith, Attaochu, Mack, Barr, Chris Smith, Aaron Lynch and with the ones you mentioned that's it.

Gus Bradley himself said Clowney could play the LEO spot very well.  Go post somewhere else please.
I like Crichton a lot, kid is gonna be a force at the next level and i hope we can get him in the second. I'd also be happy with Attaochu. Both have great skills and could potentially be good fits for the LEO here in Jax

I will go post somewhere else when someone creates a message board for football fans with Asperger's syndrome. Until then, I have to post here.

This explains a lot and I am not saying that in a [BLEEP] or cruel way.

Ditto.
Clowney would be a beast for us at DE. Who cares if he's a prototypical LEO or not? The man can get to the QB, and that's what counts.

If the team finds itself drafting a LEO in the first round, Barr or Mack would be great options. Dee Ford would be a great pick in round two if he's there.

The wildcards in all this are Andre Branch and Ryan Davis. If Bradley and Caldwell believe that one or both of them can be a quality LEO, they may choose to focus elsewhere. That could line us up for someone like Morgan Breslin, Ronald Powell, Michael Sam or James Gayle later on.

Michael Sam is labeled as a guy without a position: too small (6-1, 255) to play DE and two slow to play OLB. He would be lucky to get picked in the third round. I wouldn't rule him out as an option, but he needs a great combine to get me excited about his football skills.
